I have a MH 30 that I was getting started so I could pull it in to the shop to work on it. I know the engine knocked some but figured it would at least make it 100 feet to the shop. Well it went puff, blew some smoke and the oil dip stich went flying. It then shut down and the oil pan is now leaking oil. I think I know what it did but want to see what you guys think. What say you.
Thanks. I think it blew by the way.

Before you tear it all down, consider this:

You might have gasoline in the crankcase and vapor ignition blew the oil stick out and blew the oil pan gaskets. It could have removed the valve cover, if it had one.

Too much "liquid" in the crankcase will cause a knock. I had a similar experience with a 6 cylinder Ford. Removed the excess oil and the knocking stopped.

Friend of mine had a 390 Ford badly flooded. When it ignited, it blew off both valve covers.

Drain the crankcase and see what you have.

Dip stick said it had the right amount of oil in it. The npan also now has a very small hole in it and it will not fire up again. I have tried to start it again but it keeps fire strange and when it does that the dip stick jumps again and if back fires out both the exhaust and intake.

Bout time you said something to me again LOL. I sent you an e-mail yesterday explaining what I was doing with this MH 30. Oh well I was going to make one good engine from 2 of them any how. Just hoped I could at least drive the tractor in to the shop instead of haveing to pull it.
