First of all, he's not 'plowing'. 90 acres an hour- yeah, with a fertilizer spreader or crop sprayer. Moldboard plows cover about a half acre per hour per bottom. 24 foot field cultivator on half-mile long field does about 17 acres per hour with 190 horse at about 6mph.

I think you are fudging the numbers a bit there. I'd beleive 75 acres in an hour after the story was told 20 times over and the natural habit to increase the acreage goes up everytime, but 90? C'mon you gotta be pullin legs there!

well I don't know much about plowing.. and I could only see the lights( was plowing at night) for an hour.. field was done the next day.. and it wasn't a molbord.. not sure, chisle? I know what a disk and molbord is.. the rest.. dunno.. I am a hay man.. don't plow anything.. so I will take you word for it.. but I still think it takes him about an hour.. he was going a pretty good clip..

Around 10 acres per hour is a good average for the average tillage piece. Moldboard plows will be slower and large tandem discs will be faster. It would take most of the day to cover 90 acres for most folks. I thought you worked for ole Wilbur, outta know something about tillage work at least. Then again ya claim to have handled 6000 bales of hay in a day over there, another far fetched tale. Ya keep me laughin though!
