Shooting definatly works, but if it's illegal where you are right now, because some places have a season on them, you might want to go the have-a-heart trap route, and bait it with a cracker with some peanut butter on it, coons LOVE peanut butter, and you'll be able to empty your trap a couple times a night in areas with alot of coons. After you catch them, you can take them for a ride and bless somebody else with them. Post back when your unsure what to do when you accidently get a skunk caught in it ;'D yes I speak from experience and have caught skunks too, your alright as long as you cover the trap and I have never tried to move one during the day, never got sprayed yet!. One thing I do as a precaution to stay safe while releasing critters, is I put down the tailgate on my truck and stand on the edge of it and realease the animal off over the end, that way, they drop away from me and don't have a chance to bite. Oh yeah, and skunks have big long claws, and they will be able to hold themselves really good inside that trap, so just dumping them out usually doesn't work, so standing the trap up on end and shaking it usually is what it takes. Good luck, hope this helps, stay safe and pick up your kids toys!
