Conservation wont let us cut it yet. It is ready. That is whats so darn irratating about renting hayground from the conservation. It will probably be about memorial day before we can.

Started cutting lasted week. Orchard grass is headed out and ready to cut also, a little early for it. Can't get hay to dry this early, been letting it lay 2 to 4 days then wrapping. Done 75 so far. Going to shut down for a few days, forecasting rain, dry here, last corn I planted was 2 wks ago last monday has'nt raned on it yet.

My hay is being cut alright. but not by me. I counted 31 deer in my one field last week munching away. We are about two weeks late this year. Usually cut around the 1st of June but I can't see it being ready by then. Good thing this is just a small hobby farm.

I"ve only seen one field here in central Iowa that"s been cut. I think it"s a couple weeks early yet. I have seen a couple pure alfalfa stands that are knee high, or slightly taller. I figure I have a 3, maybe 4 weeks til my worn out grass/alfalfa mix is ready. Alfalfa is only 10" tall, 12" max.

A bunch cut here for round bale silage last weekend. I wrapped over 50 for me, and over 100 for my neighbor Monday.

It was heavy, very very heavy. Cut Fri evening, rolled Sunday. Better than 70% moisture, stood up the skid loader more than once (1845C Case, with full rear weight bars).

Would like to start cutting anytime now, but it has been cloudy and overcast with showers and more of the same next week, gonna cool down to highs in the 50's for a few days. It looks like it will start to bloom any day now. I have some over my knees but none waist high yet....New seedings are just poking up...Jim

I wish I could get alfafa to grow on my place but the one time I tired it never even came up. But as far as cutting hay I figure I'll be doing that once it dries up. Had rain almost every other day for the last 2 or 3 weeks now, but I say let it rain we are still behind about 12 inches of rain from the last 2 or 3 years.

Nope, not yet. At the farm, the alfalfa, clover, orchard grass mix is not quite to my waist (I'm 5'7") and at my boss's farm it's a little above my knees. Prolly gonna cut this weekend if it quits raining.

Not very tall but starting to bloom. If we don't get some rain in the next week I'll either have to cut it or loose it. The darn stuf just disapears back into the ground.

It froze at my house last night. Alfalfa isn't even over my shoe tops yet, of course I am 6'6". All the folks who were sprinkling last night woke up to a lovely field of ice!
