Turning the gas off every time you shut off the tractor gets to be a real nuisance. I found a solution. There is a company in Marshall MI that sells an electric solenoid that you splice into the gasline between the sediment bowl and the carb, then wire to the switch. It opens when the key is on and closes when the key is off. I bought one the other day and installed it. I wish I had known about this 20 years ago. You can call them at 269 781 9196 ask for ASF valve #121. It will only work with a 12 volt system.

I forgot to mention that the price I paid was $39.00. I live nearby so I didn't have to pay shipping. I just drove over and got one. The place is called Walsh Distributing. Right down town Marshall MI on the North side of main street.

Good tip.The solenoid is a gasoline fuel lock, commonly used on dual fuel(gasoline/propane)engines to turn off fuel to the gasoline carb when the engine is running on propane. I installed on on my gas engine 4020 a few years ago to solve a persistant flooding problem. My tractor has rusty fuel tank and lines, and bits of rust would hang the needle valve open about 50% of the time when I parked it. Installing the fuel lock solved the problem.
