What is it with Ebay? Or other internet exchanges? It seems like a lot of stuff sells, and reappears a day later - they are selling until they get thier price? I guess that's thier business, but it seems like it degrades the value of the exchanges. Any thoughts?

Another problem is "sniper" programs that wait until the last moments of an auction, then block out other bids until the sale is over, thereby blocking out someone who would have paid more, if he could have gotten his bid in. I was really interested in a custom car recently, but ended up going to see it and making a deal on the spot rather than lose it at the last secone on eBay.

I use the same pictures for all of my carburetors because once I am finished rebuilding one it looks just as good as what I have sold before and I usually have several available at any given time. It's a real hassle to upload a new photo whenever I add another carb to the listing, and even if I did it would look just like the previous one.

Yes, I wonder what is going on when I see the same pic. I think you would be ahead to take a quick shot of the actual one you are selling. I even mark the unit sometimes.

I have noticed that certain sellers seem to do this. I suspect that they snipe their own auctions rather than set a reserve. If it looks like a seller is doing this, I will not bid on their items.

Sometimes they just have multiple items, and instead of listing them all at once and selling them cheap because the market is flooded, they limit the quanity they are selling to fetch a higher price. I know this isn't always the case, but I've bought a few things like this.

That is what I did when I was selling a boatload of monitor stands. I figured if I listed them all at once, they would stay low in price. If I listed them one at a time, the price usually went up.

The law of supply and demand worked for me.

Quite a few of those items are listed with a reserve. Even though the item recieved bids, if the reserve was not met, the item did not sell, and then it will be relisted. There are some instances where the winning bidder refused to pay, and of course the item is relisted. And then you have those items that have had the bids run up by shill bidders, and one of those shill bidders actually won the item, but of course that person doesn't want it, so the item is relisted. If you suspect shill bidding on any eBay listing, please report it to eBay.

Seems to be the way of the world.
I give up looking at classified, even here, same people over and over looking for a sucker. If I advertise all I get is rip-offs wanting to cash a no-good, over size check.

Sorry to hear that Coloken. I have not bought from here lately but have both bought and sold on this site and a few others. I am just a farmer wannabe with a few acres and a few tractors I bought right and sold right, perhabs too cheap as they always sold fast with no reports of being misled.(But I set the price and was satisfied). I hope not everyone gives up because of a few bad apples. Bob

I have mornings like that! For my two cents, I bought both of my Farmalls on this site. One was advertised two states away and the seller was very reputable, even holding it while I arranged to get there and then again for a few days while I thought it over. The second was a wanted classified I ran. Another good tractor and purchase. On the other hand, I went to a lot of trouble to arrange a trailer and time off to go pick up a couple of plows a couple of months ago right here in Michigan only to find out the guy sold them from under me a few days before I was supposed to go. Currently talking to a fella about a wagon but he disappeared on me. I think it is just the way things are in the buying and selling of used stuff.
