It looks like this is going to be a bad year for rattle snakes. I chopped one up with my mower, and my help killed four with the hand cutter (weedie) This was in one day. Stan

Stan, what do you atribute it to? Change in weather? Buildup of grass or construction materials?

We have copperheads and a type of rattler in Indiana, but I've never encountered them...in Indiana. Thanks for the reminder that they exist.

Mark

We had a wet year last season. Which helped the rodent population, so comes the snakes to feed. stan

Get several cats around the place to keep the rats and mice down. It's working here with 13 cats and a couple owls around too so even the rabbits are fearful now lol.

Here in Indiana, near some "fun" (Hunting, ATV riding) property owned by my in-laws it seems the DNR has been helping out the local snake population by releasing copper heads and timber rattlers. Seems the timber rattlers are on the endangered list for the area. (Prospect/West Baden Indiana)

If that"s not bad enough, there was talk of releasing rats to help ensure that there is adequate food!
