a buddy of mine said that I should put lucas oil stabilizer in all of my stuff.. said it works great and will fix most problems.. but for $8 a quart I am not so sure.. I am going to try it in my case, mixed with the motor oil.. and in my rake, mixed with the gear oil... and becouse the seal went out on the transfer case on my truck I am going to put it in there 100%.. any of you guys use this stuff before? what about the lucas you mix with gas? that stuff is $7 a quart. thanks for your replys!

Why spend extra money on an additive when you can buy a really good grade of oil, for not much more than the regular stuff, and get the same benefits? Check into Lubrication Engineers products and give them a try. I work on heavy equipment for a living and have seen customers try just about every "cure all" available. Nothing has ever impressed me like LE's products. How would you like to rebuild your engine after 12 years of hard daily use (rebuild due to electrolosis not wear) and find that the main and rod journals were still standard. This just dosn't commonly happen. Your diesel won't turn over fast enough to start at 25 degrees, try LE. Your rear differential running hot...Try LE. Your automatic whining and shifting hard...try LE.
I'm no oil salesman but I use their products an dhave seen them used and they work....Just my .02

Don't know if it is good or not.Never used it,but they must sell a lot of it. Lucas has purchased the naming rights to the Indianapolis Colts' new stadium that is under construction. Its going to amount to about 14 million dollars to the Colts for the duration of the contract. You will see it on National Football Leage games that will be played here----"The Lucas Oil Stadium" and the local yuppies aren't too happy about the name.lol, bob

The guy who started the company was a truck driver from southern Indiana and his wife a beautician.Neither have a college education ,but they are rollin in dough now.Its quite a success story of how moxie and good common sense can still put you on top of the world. He has developed all his products himself. If you are really interested in reading the story go to:Indystar.com and search the archives.

Yes and I'm a believer in their products!! I put it in my transmissions of all my vehicles when I change the trans.oil and filters every fall, I pull 5th wheel trailers with farm equipment all summer in the extreem heat; it improves the shifting and they are performing maintance free even with over 200,000 miles on two of the 4 vehicles we have. I plow snow w/ an 88 heavy duty 1/2 ton chevy and it definately makes a big difference.
Hope this helps,
Ken

I can saw I have always been skeptical of all miracle additives. But ,I have seen many examples of Lucas working .Here are some examples.Used in a friends tired 14hp Kohler, it was very hard starting ,fouled the plug, and smoked like nothing I've ever . Fifty fifty mix of Lucas and oil added ,it now starts good and runs clean .That was over 5 years ago.Half ton chevy with an auto trans so bad ,reverse would slip and not move.Owner added Lucas trans additive and reverse gradualy came back. That was 2 years ago ,works good today .Added to leaky oilbath hubs on my heavy trailer 1 yr ago .No more leaks.I could go on with other examples ,but you get the idea .I have seen Lucas products work you can draw your conclusions.

As far as I understand Lucas products, there's nothing wrong with them per se. What they are is a a mixture of additives already found in your engine oil, or other lubricants. There is seldom, if any conclusive proof that adding any extra amounts of these additives affords better protection. The increased amounts of particular additives may help to extend oil change intervals, but they don't increase the level of protection afforded to the engine from it's lubricants.
The next question to ask yourself is do you want to extend oil change intervals? One big reason for changing oil is to remove contaminants in the oil... so if you extend the change interval, you are simply allowing contaminants to increase in the oil... That's not good.
As far as stopping a leak goes... that's just a band-aid. Wouldn't it be better to fix the leak, or fix the underlying problem that caused the leak? In the end, that may be cheaper than buying bottle on bottle of "leak fix".
Lucas is one company, and Lubri-Lab is another who specialise in producing a line of lubricants and lubricant additives that are somewhat beneficial.... but won't pay for themselves. The sales pitch is always the same..... this product will give you this much more protection, and it only costs this much.... That's way cheaper that a new engine.... Our tribologists are specialists in developing these products, and they know better that Exxon's, Chevron's, Mobile's, Irving's, Texaco's, etc. tribologists and on and on and on..... I call it snake oil. It's just half a step above Duralube and Slick 50, which as far as I'm concerned, is crap, and there's US gov research to support those products being crap. These salesmen play on a general lack of knowledge and people's suspicion about lubricants, and play on one's desire to have the best possible protection. They're quite successful at it too. I've spent enough on htose things, and the problems I had before, I still have. Bearings still failed the same way. Seals still leaked. The only difference was it cost more to maintain the gear, because I was spending more on "advanced lubricants"....

Regular maintenance and timely repairs will gain you as much or more in the long run. Your call. Best of luck.

I use whatever oil the engine maker calls for. Most additives are sold on the basis of a guy thinking he is doing something extra for his engine. The actual benefits are probably impossible to prove. If it costs extra its not for me.I do my first oil change on any vehicle I bought new[not many]at the first fifty miles to get any metal the filter didnt get out of the engine. That has worked well for me.There is even a can of stuff that says it rebuilds your engine just by pouring it into the crankcase. If that worked it would be a miracle.Or how about the old Duralube infomercial where they pour a waterhose on the rocker arms.Early engines had no rocker arm covers so thats not real impressive to me.Now if the manufacturer tells you a certain additive is needed for something like sticking valve guides then I would use it because they are trying to correct a problem in a band aid non recall way.The only thing thats going to fix a worn out motor is wrenches and man hours of labor.

I have used several lucas products. The first one in a 97 Pete steering box seals leaked, I put 1 bottle power steering stop leak and 350 miles on unit with no leaking. 2001 Wilson Stepdeck, after first 150,000 miles, filled hubs with lucas hub oil; put another 500,000 miles on, pulled bearings and had absolutely no sign of wear. My 2002 Pete, I have been using stabilizer in the transmission and both rear ends. Shes got 575,000 miles on her and everythings still in excellent shape. Pat.

Got a 6.9L 87 Ford F250 with 210,000 on it. Been running lucas oil stabilizer in it for 2 years with no problems. Oil pressure came up and consumption went down. Oil changes are at 6,000 miles now. Also use Lucas fuel conditioner in the diesel fuel. Sure quiets the pump down. Lucas power steering product works great too. Had a steering hose with a crack. Put the Lucas in and it stopped the leak. I did replace the hose when I had time but ran it for 8 months before changing it.

I tired Lucas hydraulic oil conditioner and stop leak. I didn't like that because it thickend the oil to much. It did stop a leak. I think it would work good in a warm winter climate. So for the most part I like their products.

Pretty good stuff. put a little in the trans on my 92' Dodge one ton diesel and it is hard shifting in the winter when it is cold out becaue the darn stuff gets so thick, once it heats up it's ok though. Just depends, I think in many cases just good clean oil is sufficiant.
