Are there packings available for a leaking sediment bowl? I hate to replace the whole thing for a 25¢ packing? Also could a person slip an O-Ring inside to help it seal when I shut it off. It never seals really well.

Or should I just go out and buy a new $24 sediment bowl.

I bought one at TSC for $22 and could not get it to
stop leaking . Gave up and bought one for $15 at the local auto parts store and no leaks. If you have an origional, I would take the bowl to Napa and get
new screen and gasket. If it leaks around the valve
unscrew the nut take the valve out, and put a graphite coated string packing inside the nut.
You can get this from most hardware stores. Its the
same thing used in older kitchen faucets.

You can get just gaskets at NAPA. Take your bowl with you to be sure you get right size.

Yep, better to just replace it. Most don't have packing - they are designed to be full open/full closed. When full open they back-seat to prevent leakage.

to me, once they start leaking they are about shot.. I would just go out and spend the 24$ at tsc or what ever.. and after you get a new one spray some WD-40 on it once a month or more..
