Hi Guys,

Got a semi load of cattle coming today and had to run out to the farm to make sure the pasture gates were all closed and the water pumpjack was working as it should.

Took some pictures while I was out there.

Have a good one,

Allan

Great pictures, Allan. What's a retired guy like you doin' up at 5:00 am!!? Those clouds look like rain and I understand you've had a shortage of that so far this year. I hear a lot of folks are selling off cows because of a lack of grass.
Up here we've been getting plenty of rain and those few who have tried getting in a first cutting are having to deal with soggy grass on the ground.

Sure do like the looks of those wide open spaces. I live in north alabama. The view of the mountains are nice here but houses are close together due to all the land being subdivided. I guess the winters there would be rough but I sure do like the wide open spaces.

Hi Rog,

Yeah, I was born and bred here and it is just "natural" to me.

I'm just not a big "people person" and like the the solitude. Has it's drawbacks tho; if the pickup quits ya, you can expect to walk and a lot of it. :>)

I lived up in North Dakota for awhile, but believe it or not, the sky was just too derned far off the ground fer my thinking. :>)

Nice pictures Allan...
Bet ya can't wait to shovel some honey. I assume you are going hereford beef?

Couple of questions for a dummy.
1)Is it both hot and dry in NE? Or just dry?
Hot like Arizona hot?
2)What in the heck is that hooked to the back of your tractor?

Have fun!

Brian

Hi Brian,

Yes, way hot and way dry. They call it "semi-arid" out here. Don't know where the "semi" part comes in tho. :>)

Toy is a stack mover and I just spent two days rethreading those drag chains on 'er. It is so much easier to move a whole stack than it is to fiddle around with individual bales, especially with these distances.

jsust curious but how come the tabs or ears on your drag chains are not same all the way acroos unit. If mine is that way yea it does break the chains they need to be same all across to get even pull on all chains, some look like they would be doing more pulling than others in your picture. i am currently modifying another unit for small squares. Just came in from cutting another hay field.

Looks like the tanks are full and ready. Best part of the day in my opinion! Nice photos. If you get any rain out of those clouds, feel free to share some here.

It'll never happen DP.

Monsoon season is over here and now we're just hoping beyond hope that we get a little late summer moisture to bring the wheat up in September. :>(

Hey man, been missing you. Are those clouds? One isolated storm went over yesterday and gave me point 15 inches of rain. First in months. Supposed to be 101 degrees today. Take care, Kenny

Yes,

Clouds just "gather together" here then move on, so that it can rain back east. :>)

I am in Pa. A lot of menninite and amish guys buying hay around here. Land is getting too expensive and hay is hard to get dry here. Its always funny to see the amish stack small square bales on a wagon. They only stack about 4 high cause if they go higher its too much for the mules.

Used to skinny dip in stocks tanks on my Brother-in-laws ranch ouside of Belen, NM. (not a pretty sight!!)

Nice pictures Mr. Allen - sure looks peaceful out there that time of the morning.
Looks like a bale trailer behind your tractor - some kinda roll-off rig?

Hey Illinois Boy, My older sister use to own the Golden Correl in Belen, NM., untill the economy got her business few years ago. She still lives there with her two grand children. Hot and dry area.
