I knew at least 4 people with half ton Dodges that shelled out the automatics within 36000 to 60000 miles. None of them did any heavy towing. I was told that there was a later recall on them. Not sure what years they were. Either started with 2000 or a little later. About $3500 to replace. My brother just had his 35000 mile service and shortly after it went out. He was the only one of the 4 that didn't buy another Dodge. I guess they started making better ones later. I have a 94 1/2 ton with 318 that my neighbor bought new and I had to get a $50 part replaced to make it shift correctly from 2nd to drive without winding it up. It has 145000 on it now.
