Local dealer has a ford 5900 D. and wander if they are still a good tractor like the 1000 series . I`ve run a few 4000`s and a 5000 and we have a 3000 on the farm and they are good simple easy to work on machines . Injector pump is the only thing I`ve had to fix on the 3000 in 10 yrs. Is the 5900 in the same boat ? They look to just be a updated 5000 or did they change things they should have left alone ?

If my memory is correct the 5900 was a unit produced in Mexico after Ford had updated its main models for the U.S. market. The 5900 used the older style sheet metal and had less advanced hydraulics. The engine and transmission designs were also from the older series. It was a bare bones model for those needing a lower cost tractor. I can't offer any insight regarding the quality of the UK/USA models versus the Mexican produced models.
