Aloha, Like Nebraska Kirk said, tap & die set. Get the 5" bolt and run the die down to what is required and then cut the bolt.

Is there something wrong with 4-1/2" bolts that we don't know about??Any Equipment dealer will have them.

Yep, 4 inches is too short, and the threads don't go down far enough on the 5 inchers.

That is why they make tap and die sets :-)

You would also need a lathe so you could turn down the shank a bit. The threaded portion of those bolts is slightly smaller O.D. You can use a die and run the threads down a bit further, but the threads do not cut cleanly and you run the chance of breaking the die. Not to mention that it takes a whole lot of muscle. Just about any farm machinery dealer will have the 4 1/2" bolts in stock. A common hardware or farm supply type store will not have them.

It would take several washers, and you would still have a lot of the bolt sticking out.
