Hello Folks,

A real good friend of mine from Keystone Heights, FL has suffered a setback in his long fight against cancer. His condition is serious (Stage 4). His outlook, while upbeat, IMHO it's not good.

I talked to him last night and will see him this coming Sunday. We talked of our tractors (he is an AC Man), our families, and "final matters" that need tended to.

He told me he was "in bad shape," and his condition is terminal. He now has tumor on his spine causing him to be paraplegic. He has faith and said miracles can and do happen.

He is now in an occupational rehab facility as his condition is not significantly improved.

He has basically been told that he'll never walk again and is in rehab to build his upper body strength to deal with the wheelchair.

For the rest of his days he will be confined to the same type wheel chair Christopher Reeves was in, only way tilted back, as he can't control his fore and aft movements only side to side.

I am asking that you remember Wayne and his family in your thoughts and prayers. I ask that you pray for his strength, encouragement and faith as he has a big battle to wage again with this latest onslaught of this terrible disease.

Humbly and by HIS Grace,
ShepFL

Thats tough, my prayers are with him. My father in law has cancer, (bladder) last november he told my wife "take care of your mother after Im gone" We got him into to a doctor right away to set up chemo treatments and he is still alive. He only has a year if he is lucky. The cancer is spreading, I would like to see him live longer so that my son will remember him better, my son is 5 years old. Real sad.

Will do.

As a cancer survivor-in-progress, I can tell anyone who is dealing with cancer, or who has a loved one dealing with it, that support from family and friends is extremely important.

I was diagnosed with stage 3B kidney cancer in the fall of '01, and told I likely had 6 to 18 months before it would be back. A good friend of mine who is a doctor had a long talk with me at the time and said, "You didn't pick this, it picked you. Don't waste a moment wondering why you got it, or what you could have done to avoid it. This will likely kill you, but.... it might not. This experience is going to be the scariest roller-coaster ride of your life, and you don't have the choice of not riding. So you may as well hang on and learn to enjoy the view!"

Her words have gotten me through some tough times. Celebrate uncertainty!

Shep, As we speak here My Mom-in-law is at M.D.Anderson @ Houston,Tx. Undergoing her Cancer treatments, hopfully done this Monday, She gets to ring the ol Capitans Bell. Yes it is prayer that gets all of us through, It is His grace that we all have, that we have. In addition to what farmerjohninpa said, During the times when we do not know exactly what to pray, for one way or the other doesn't look good to us! Ask the Holy Spirit to pray for us the correct prayer that is in accordance with His will. You can't go wrong asking that, for you are seeking his divine will in it all. I am asking His will to be done, that He be glorified, and Wayne and his family gathered up,and His protective hedge placed around them at this time. I ask in the name of our our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen!
Later,
John A.

hello shep; i thank you for sharing your prayer request with us ! as our Lord and Savior, Jesus told us in his holy word the bible,,"that were two or more are gathered in HIS NAME,in prayer ,there He would be also" so as we all gather in prayer for your friend, let us realize that He is there with use and conveying our prayers for your friend to the throne of GOD,our Heavenly Father. may your friend be touched and healed and to GOD BE THE GLORY now and forever. Amen!

Yep, faith, hope, and love are often taken for granted until we"re really tested. All the money (or tractors) in the world don"t mean a lot when you lose your health. May God bless all who are so afflicted!
