Where did you get your decals? There are quite a few sets of decals that contain many "EXTRA" decals, most of whichich do not belong on your tractor. Your 1952 A will have the large JOHN DEERE decals (for the side of the hood) positioned so that the closest portion of the first letter as read from the front of the tractor is located about 3 or 3 1/2 inches from the seam in the hood (place where the nose pieces meet the top/hood). There will be a "medalion" piece which covers the top of the nose and covers the head of the steering gear, There will be a small "JOHN DEERE" spelled out in letters, which should be centered on this piece of sheet metal. The "Black Ball" indicators ARE used on your tractor and are positioned on the sides of the "grill" pieces, in the recessed area in line with the large "JOHN DEERE" on the sides of the hood. The "HYDRAULIC POWRTROL" decal (if yours says "CUSTOM POWRTROL" on it your set of decals is a "cheapie" and you will be throwing away several decals.) is centered at the top of the powrtrol housing. There is a "LOGO" decal which says "Quality Farm Equipment" on it which is centered, on the front face of the battery box. Unless your particular A has a water pump, you won't need any decals which warn about opening the radiator cap slowly due to it being a pressurized system, because without a water pump, it is a thermosyphon system and is unpressurized. You have a Donaldson oil bath air cleaner on your A. There may be a decal which says "United oil bath" and if there is---throw it away. Perhaps you could discribe any other decals you may have?
