We were harvesting in the Sterling Co. area a couple of weeks ago and I can testify to how dry it is there. I'm glad to hear you are getting some rain. Hope the rain makes it's way to NW Iowa really soon. The local newspaper claims our june was as dry as the dust bowl days. The corn and beans in the sandy soil are really suffering but generally we are looking pretty good. If we have many more days like today the crops in the good soil will start to show the stress too. Temp today is 97 with a 20 mph wind. A week ago a little area that lies just three miles from me had 2 1/2 inches of rain and I had .15". Jim

We were out in Otis a couple of weeks ago. Glad to you you guys getting some rain. We just got a little shower an hour or so ago in SW MO. We are not near as dry as you are out there but we sure could use some as well. Maybe this is a sign that the midwest is about to get wet for a change.

That's good maybe it will get things soaked. We had some good rain in June finally but nothing to measure yet this month. Maybe later today and Mon. and then they say it's back to hot & dry again. Hot SW wind is done blowing today and need that to stop so more rain will come off NM mountains.

I"m not laughing at your rainfall. Three weeks ago today, we left Illinois for Colorado and went in the n/east corner on 76 to Estes park. That was just plain sad, did"nt look like it rained in a year. Somewhere around Greeley the thermometer in my truck read 97 when we were stopped for road construction. What"s the idea behind that huge cattle feed lot?, I did,t see enough feed around there to support a dozen cows. We went through Rocky Mt. Nat.Pk , down to the Royal Gorge, up Pikes Pk. and then hung around Col. Springs for a couple days. This was the fourth time I"ve been out there, the last time was exactly 20 yrs. ago, but man was it hot and dry. I hope you get all the rain you can handle. Jim

If you went by that feedlot (used to be Monford and one of the largest )You went by Kersey and a half block from my house. This county (Weld) is one of largest in US, has both dry land and irigated from mountain snow that is now about gone.

We could use some of that here in N.E. Kansas too. Been some rain to the west of here, but mighty dry here. Probably too late for some of the corn. Don

Hey Coloken, where you located in N east Colorado. My Dad grew up near Ft. Morgan, they raised sugar beets. Still have relatives in CO.

Glad to hear you are getting the much needed rain.Looks like we might get a few rain drops here in eastern Oregon today. I'll herd the clouds your way! :>)
