Saturday Our Local Tractor Club Had Our annual Tractor Tour, Around 34 Miles, And After Lunch A Member Was Just Going Down The Country Road On A 1951 John Deere B And A Rotten Tree About 10 Inches In Diameter Decided To Fall In The Road,
And Fell Across His Tractor And Hit Just In Front Of Dash And Smashed Steering Shaft And Tank Real Bad, Could Not Steer, Beautiful Tractor That They Had Added Power Steering To. Driver Was Mighty Shook Up And Still In Shock Sunday At Church. He Never Saw It Coming. That's Not The Kind Of Accident You will think Will Happen.

I've often heard vibration can be dangerous around dead trees, say like heavy earthmoving equipment, wonder if the tractor helped it come down, glad it missed him though.

I cut a small road in few years ago, cut a dead elm down, just did not like where it was above me, when it fell, some of it hung up in the vines, I figured it was safe, I took my old D7 though there and don't you know part of that dead tree came to life, kicked up and whacked me sqaure on the side of the head, like getting hit with a 2x4, mild concussion, not the first either, big gate on a construction fence pivoted off the hinge and whacked me in the same spot on the side of the head, drops you to your knees, strange feeling that is, feels like the lights are getting dim for a few seconds. Glad no one got hurt, that is a blessing.

I down at the river last week pushing my way thru
some weeds and brush with the dirt scoop lowered
and one of the rear tires on my 8N caught a rotten
tree. Luckily it was small cause it came over
and hit me right square on top of the head.
If it had a short broken limb sticking out at the right spot,
It would have driven it right into my soft skull.
You just don't expect things like this to happen.
