730LP. What is the differants in gears in the rear end. Might drop a gear in the trans. and kept the RPMs up. Just a thought. Morgan

Don't know the ratio on the auto it wasn't on the window sticker or the door plate and no plates on the rear end or front end.ratio on the 05 was a 3:73.Going to take it back to dodge and ask a few ????? ?????

This may sound dumb but were the tire sizes the same on both trucks? the reason I say this is that when we got our 96 3500 it has 215's on it and would never even think about bogging with a load. Needed new tires and all that was available ( needed them that day) were 235's. made a noticable difference in the towing ability.

Look at the sticker inside the glove box for the gear ratio...

I knew a guy that had to get a tow up Grapvine hill out on the left coast. When he got home he put a 5 speed in it,said he could at least slip the clutch and gain a few feet if he had to.(30ft goose neck trailer)
