I know where there is an old Wisconsin 2 cyl. engine off a New Holland hay baler. I am wondering if there is any value or use for it. I believe the guy will give it to me if I ask for it. I remember my Dad had a baler with an engine on it when I was a kid, and I always thought it was cool. I guess I could just restore it and put it on a cart for display. Any thoughts?
Good Luck and God Bless, Tommy

They were used on all kinds of things, and as a few others said - it came with two pistons going up and down at the same time - e.g. the TE or TF series, and also in opposed with the bigger engines, e.g. the TJ series. Besides the numerous balers, welders, generators, water-pumps, commercial rototillers, etc., the TE two-cylinders were also used in a few small farm tractors. I've got a Shaw Du-All R-12 that uses the TE.

There 2 versions of that engine as said below, one with alternate throw for rods on crank and other one with throws together. You'll find some Wisconsin info at these sites: wisconsinmotors.com

Think I once saw a light weight version. 2 cyl. Aluminum block??? Maybe surplus? BTW: Fornay welder (Fort Collins Co.) sold many welders with that 2 cyl. engine and re worked air craft generators. They were great.

Good to hear from a fellow redneck! That Wisconsin engine is an interestiing piece of engineering. Better get it if you can. Unlike big green the pistons don't travel alternately, they travel together. This allows the cylinders to fire at 180 degrees(camshaft)and gives it a totally different sound. Be sure to get the hand wheel for starting since you have to crank it counter-clockwise, the drive pulley turns clockwise. I think it would be a great project to mount it on a cart or platform for display. Have fun and report. Ed

I believe ther was a version of the two-cylinder Wisconsin that had a 180 degree crank, not sure which was more popular. The one I have is the even-fire version where both pistons move together.
