What's a "fair" price on used rear tractor tires? I've bought a couple single 13.6X38s one really good one (BF Goodrich half tread) for $20.00 and a weatherchecked (Armstrong 70% tread) for $5.00. Whats a decent (1/3 to 1/2 tread) no name brand worth?

The local Belrus dealer has some "cosmetic blems"-new tires with minor cuts, rubs, etc. aquired while on a tractor in transit. They are Eastern European 13.6 X 38 $200.00 each. Most folks hereabouts run tractor tires till they are total rags.

You might get some use from the BFG yet. I wouldn't waste my time mounting the Armstrong unless I was stuck, stuck, stuck. The experiences I've had with them are that the casings last about 10 years, tops. It's been more than 10 years since Armstrong made a tire..... and this one is weather cracked, and taken off with 70% tread.... Somebody got scared of that one....
For my own part, I don't buy used tires. I have sold a couple though, and I think they were around a hundred bucks for a decent but 2/3 worn and another with the same wear but needing a big blowout patch. I asked that, and the guy paid it... Dunno if I would have though...
Used tires need to be cheap because it's easy to throw good money after bad. Good luck.

I actually mounted the Armstrong because it "matched" the ones on my tractor - only in better condition. I had a rim that was in need of being patched and I knew the old tire would be a bear to get off, cutting it off with a Sawzall made it a much easier job - especially for $5.00 and a better tire. I bought the BF Goodrich because it was in good shape and going cheap, I had hoped to find another to match it, hasn't happened in two years.

The ones I'm looking at come from a guy that restores tractors and mounts new ones unless the old ones on the tractor are perfect. He wants $150 for the matched pair.

If it worked, and for 5 bucks, that's great. I still, and probably always will have a very low opinion of Armstrong/Titan tires. Just had too much grief with the casings. Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me..... I spose if you aren't loading the tire up heavy or working it hard, it may go for quite some time. Mine have been in situations where they are loaded heavy, and that's often when they fail.
Personally, I think 150 is getting up there for used tires. Mabey if they were Firestones, and in good shape. Mabey. Watch the weather cracking/dry rot on them, whatever they are. I've just been burnt on used tires before, so I'm too much of a cynic. Good luck if you do buy them.

I have those Armstrong tires, some close to 30 year oud and still good. you could NOT GIVE ME A FIRESTONE FEILD & ROAD, have been burned to bad with them, will not last 2 years even with light loads and very pour traction as well, the Armstrong will out pull that Firestone. And I have told the Firestone tire guys at there proving grounds that, that there tires are pure JUNK.

Tires are worth whatever you are willing to pay and a seller is willing to sell them for.
Some people look at stuff as, well I used it for this long, and I paid this amount, then it is worth 1/2 of the original or whatever. Other people take the attitude that they should get near new prices out of used stuff. As a word of caution be careful in buying used tires. There is a reason that they aren't on a tractor in the first place. Unless someone has parted a tractor out or gotten new tires, there is probably something wrong with it somewhere.
