Hope someone can enlighten me here, so I can get my tractor back in the yard! I have a Case/DB 990 (year unknown... sixties somewhere I think) and there is no pressure to the injectors. I was driving it and it started to bog like it was out of fuel so I shut it off. Checked the fuel level and now it won't start. There is plenty of fuel making it to the injector pump but only a few drops coming out of the pump when I take the line right off it... Help Please Guys!

Thanks chief, were going to try that now. Just a thought, weve never had a problem finding all the filters we need at the local dealer. They seem to have most everything we need.

Make sure your shut down cable isn't sticking, and causing the pump to starve for fuel. This happened to me one time. Stan

Chief, thats weird you had the same problem today! Small world... I guess I have a different pump since its a four cylinder...but I will try dumping a few more gallons of fuel in the tank first thing tomorrow. Also I only have two filters. And when I checked for fuel at the injector pump, I took the line off between the filters and the injector pump, and it flowed a steady stream, gravity fed. Think it still might just be low on fuel? Thanks!

Well if what Ol Chief told ya doesnt fix it, sounds like your fixing to get a new injector pump.

(Ol Chief)and Jay----can you not put a electric supply pump on those tractors and stop the problem your having-seems like you should be able to set it up fairly easy, we did on an old 560 that would basically do the same thing and havent had it happen again

Jay it is strange that you had this problem on the same day as myself on the same model tractor. However this has not been a new experience for me and I hope that I may be of some help.I have two 900 BD's with different type fuel pumps.I have had this problem on several occasions. If you have the same set up as I then you are dealing with an injection pump that has a flat round head, setting on top out of which all six injector supplys are connected. This system is also fitted with three fuel filters. This set up is a bit confusing until you trace it out.The lower filter is primary.Secondary is higher and sets about midway on the engine. The final is all the way fwd.at top of engine up under the hood. There is also an valve just on top of the primary filter which I havent yet figured out.Now when you say that there is plenty of fuel I am not sure what that means because my engine will repeatedly starve to death any time there is less than about 2" to 2-1/2" of fuel in the tank.I then have the same problem that you are experiencing.I. E. fuel will not find its way out of the transfer pump to the second filter by gravity however I find fuel at the primary inlet. Now I know that I have the wrong filter element in the primary because of so far impossibility of supply even from the dealer .You will need to get the Purolator number and go directly to a mfg. outlet to get what you need. When I have the tractor quit it is always my fault for running low on tank level.I suspect in my case that a positive head pressure above 2 inches must at all times be maintained. The cure for me and possibly for you as well is as follows.Measure the tank level and make a mental note, dump in several gallons fuel, then remove the air bleed screw on primary and secondary filters. When first filtre is full close vent. Now you will not get fuel to secondary yet so kick open the compression release and run the starter intermitently until number two is full then bleed #3 the same way.Now you can loosen injector connections and bleed the lines and you should be able to button up and start. Good luck!
