A few weeks back a gentelman had a post about his computer running slow and some responces were givin about free programs to help this. Something to do with spywear or firewall and programs to get around this I believe. I though I saved that post but can"t find it. Could you guys help me out. Trying to make my internet at home work a little faster. Dsl and cable are not an option. Heck where I am at high speed don"t even work. Thanks in advance.

Besides others mentioned I also added Ewidow spyware and another browser like Mozilla Fire Fox for when Explorer messes up.

DAB, Among things that can help are:

Get an anti apyware program such as AdAware or NoAdware or Spybot etc etc n run them often.

Run System Defragmenter (under Accessories/System Tools)

Run Disk Cleanup (Under System Tools) and check remove all files n all history n all cookies

Run: Start/Run/msconfig (typed in) then Select Start Up Tab, then uncheck alllll ll but anti virus and firewall or any critical programs you dont want or need (slows things down) to automatically start up n run in the lower right system tray cuz it eats up resources n slows things down if they alllll lll have to start n run continuous in the background (kinda like running but minimized)

The main things are the anti spyware and to clean up any programs that are unnecessary but automatically start n run minimized in the background at the lower right system tray cuz programmers set them by default to do that automatically hoping/intending you will use their programs n support their advertisers etc.

There is a new virus that hits when surfing it is not detected by virus programs as is attached to a cookie. Ad aware did not identify it however No-adaware found it as severe threat,Backdoor worm W32user. It started to destroy drivers and the computer crashed required full restore from windows disc.
