I was driving past the neighbor's up the road, and I noticed he had his continental power unit on the road for sale. It's a 427 cubic inch engine, flat head 6 if I looked right (plugs were on top)

He's only asking $250- anyone interested? What are the applications?

He's had it sitting in his garage for years, I remember it siting there when I was really little and my dad and I would go there to get something fixed. Knowing him, I'm sure it runs too.

Don: The B6427 was used in at least some Brockways, Corbitts, Diamond T"s, Federals and Ward La France"s from 44 to 49 (per my Motor ,which only goes to 49), and my latest parts catalog (1962) shows it still being used then in some of them and in other odd bits and pieces of eqpmt. If you go by again, and have time, see if it"s got an ID tag; if it is a B6427/B427/PB427, and no one here wants it, the guys at aths.org might.

don, i have a 1961 fox self propelled chopper, model SPF (for self propelled forage?). first self propelled that fox made, also the first self propelled chopper in the county. it has a continental 427 6 cylinder engine. quite the machine for its day. it has a 2 row wide corn head, and had a grass pickup head (long since gone) when i got it in 1977. its quite tired now, but could really move through corn when it was younger. also moved through gas quite well, too.

Depending on what Old calls "old" (my dau sez "old" is 1990's; "old" to me is teens or 20's) there's a Cont 427 in my 50 (covers 36-49) Motor: Cont B-6427, an L-hd 6, 4 5/16 x 4 7/8, and since there's no listing for it in the tractor section it was used in trucks. There's also what could be an OHV version, T-6427, slightly higher comp ratio. At least some Cont's were used as truck, ind and power unit engines as there's an ID conversion table; if that's the truck B6427 it should be B427 (Ind) or PB427 (power unit).
