My MF 231 I use for mowing only holds so much diesel fuel. About twice a year I try to put more in it after it's already full. I had diesel fuel all over everything including my pants and shoes. I guess it uses less fuel than I thought. I acquired a air powered drum pump, but haven't got it in operation yet. I have a above ground tank, but don,t use enough fuel to justify a fuel truck commming out. What methods do you folks use when filling your tractor.Stan

Pretty hi-tech at my place. I have a selection of 5 gallon jugs, some with a "G" and some with a "D". Conveniently, the local Cenex (ag co-op) store sells farm diesel, and the cheapest gas around is right next door. When I was farming more (20 years ago), I had farm tanks, but even then, it was getting just as expensive or more so to get them filled, as to just stop by the gas station.

I just use a 5 gallon can to refuel my JD "A".
I"m always pleasantly surprised at how little gas she uses for the number of hours running time.
Even with the 6-1 Powerblock, she really just sips gas!

My dad had 2 fuel tanks on his farm, one for gas, and one for farm diesel. The gas is for our mower, vhis vehicles, and of course, older tractors. The diesel is for our newer tractors, combine, etc. We get the gas filled a few times a year and the diesel filled 2-3 times a year. But for the winter, we get winter diesel. I dont know exactly what is different, but i do know that there are different additives that help the engine.

I have a valve in my fuel oil tank that I fill a 5 gal. can from, and take that to my tractor. Keeps me needing only 1 tank, and fuel doesn"t sit too long that way. Mike
