Man I have the itch to go back to Iowa to help harvest for a week. Try to go back every few years but its been 5 years now and I really got it bad this year. Dad is 80 and brother is 57 and about 600 acres to go with the two of them so I'm sure I could get a job for a week. Good side, the sounds and smells of fall in the midwest, lunch in the field with sloppy joes and apple pie for desert, and the feeling of gettin 'er done. Down side, running all that GREEN equipment and trying to figure out all the electronic controls on the combine (9550 JD).For a guy that bleeds RED it would take a little adjustment period. Kinda busy with my own work right now but life is short, eat desert first I think. Migraine

Migraine...It's been five years. Your dad is not getting any younger. The fall fields of Iowa are calling. So listen to them. If you DON'T go, I think you'll regret it the rest of your life. Shoulda, coulda, woulda, you know? You need to pack up and get going. Virtually everyone else has said the same thing. Godspeed. David

Migraine

If you get an itchin I got red eguipment.

And I got about 850 acres to do myself.

You can run the wagons or the combine.

But I eat cold meat sandwichs that I take in a cooler in the mornin.Wife is at work so I gota fend for myself on lunch. No dessert either.

You can get off at 5:00 cause thats when the SILs get home from work to help.

Gary

If there is anything in life that I dislike, it's "regrets"...things that I wished I had done...people I would have liked to have spent more time with.
There isn't a day that goes by that I regret not spending more time doing something with my Dad.
The best day to make that decision is today, just go ahead and do it...you won't regret it.
Good Luck

Go for it. Your Dad will be glad to see you, and at his age, I am sure he could use a little help. Stan

Pack up and head out. A vacation is defined as doing something you want to do for a week or two- doesn't have to be sitting on a beach somewhere, its what YOU want to do. So go do it. And you'll be doing the family a good turn, too- I'll bet dad wouldn't mind a little break.

Won't they just let you drive the truck? First year I lived here at Wellfleet a man asked me to come back up to Hershey and help him. All I had to do is pick up the truck at the scale and unload. Kinda fun. I ate supper with the family and stayed in a motel.

I like red stuff too, but for a 9550 JD I would make an exception. Get going.
