Hi Guys,

73 degrees, not a breath of wind and the nice part was that the dew stayed with me 'til I got this patch throwed together.

Don't get any better than this. Diesel powered, too. :>)

Allan! It looks like you got that dual rake set up all dialed in. That's exactly the result you were lookin' to get. Congratulations. So does it break your heart to be done raking sooner and not get as much seat time on the diesel? :)

Billy

Yeah, we try not to do hay on Sundays, but if it's dry... Like the saying goes "work on Sundays, pay on Mondays" seems like everytime we do hay on Sunday something breaks.

course at work now so,

jeff

For those who've had trouble making good bales with the AC Rotobaler- your pix are a perfect example of how the windrows should look, as opposed to a single curl made for a small square baler.

guess that's why this forum is tractor talk, not politics or religion talk. There are probably as many religions on this forum as there are people, but evidently we all share one thing in common, TRACTORS.

Yep, my grandfather always said whatever work I do on Sundays seems to get undone on Monday, and so our family doesn't work on Sundays. On the otherhand Allan probably has other work to do during the week and raking hay is a vacation from the day job.

My grandfather all ways told me too work on Sundays that God wouldn't punish you for working if it needed to be done. We had a dairy farm and had to work on Sundays. I'm 83 years old now and still working. Do what you feel is right for you.
Love this tractor site and check it out every day:) Yes on Sundays too :)

73 degrees???, shoot Allan, it was 29 up here in the frozen north this mornin'. Those two ole rakes look like their doin' a nice job. Any chance of a pic showin' how you hooked them together.

Dunno if you can see much from this picture or not.

Basically, just a 3-point square toolbar with gauge wheels. Into each end of the toolbar is a telescoping smaller bar with pin holes every six inches or so for width adjustment of the two rakes.

Then, at the far outer end of the smaller bar(s) is welded a "mini-drawbar" to hook the rake to.

Really works slick on the corners. The outside rake sweeps out wide and the inside rake, due to the direction of sideways pull, swings over towards that outer rake and closes in on it.

Keeps the windrow perfect at all times, even going around a corner.

Should have added:

In the arc of the turn, the outside rake goes "first" and the inside rake dips in behind it and follows 'cause the tool bar is actually moving more "sideways" than straight ahead.

Hard to explain. :>(

Thanks Allan, i got the idea now, couldn't figure out how you were carryin' that weight on the ends of your tool bar till i saw the wheels. Hope ya dont mind if i copy it some. Got the same rake ya got on the right side. Gotta find one with the lefthand throw.

JJ.

Well darn it Allan, you're going to make me look bad working on Sundays like this. I've got some hay that needs baled, but it'll be there tomorrow. I'm heading out in a bit to put some red paint on a little B. Looks like a pretty good cutting of hay you've got going there.

You'll be all right as long as somebody doesn't sneak over the crest of one of those hills and scare the crap out of you.

Looks like mother nature extended her kind hand to ya and you'll get some very nice feed for the winter. I can remember that fall smell and crisp mornings and you guys are really making it hard to not go on a fall run. Shucks, I could start here on the west ledge and stop by and greet and help guys all along the way back to middle America. Then swing south and catch a little Southern hospitality and help a few guys in Arizona and California and back up through Oregon and back up to the corner. We are indeed out here on the edge, in more ways than one. Could probably get in on spud harvest, silage both corn and hay, a little baling, some corn and soybean harvest, maybe pick a little cotton and catch a few fish and cut a few logs to earn my keep. May not have a wife or business when I got back but I'd still have my tractors and machinery. Stay safe till I get there. Migraine
