At last!

After about 3 weeks of trippin' over myself and a good 10 bushel of cussmarks, I think I've finally wrestled this ol' bear to the ground.

Gotta rumage up a couple of hydraulic hoses for the fork and it should be 'bout ready to toss hay around.

I'm like you Allan, love those things...still to this day I think an M Farmall looks funny without an F10 on it...Mom's got 2 neighbors who still use W9's with F10's on them as their only loader tractors.

That is Golden, as my granddaughter would say. I have never used one, but cable dozer I did. Cables scare me, I seen one snap and miss the operator by a hair. Thanks for the pictures and play safe friend. Bob

Allan, you gotta' be twins! I never saw one guy take on more projects and actually complete them that you do. In between all that, you farm. You musta' figured out how to get 26 hours out of a 24 hour day! Guess youre a'goin' faster than the speed of light.

Heck, I dunno.

People are always telling me that.

All I know is that I always feel like I'm behind and have the feeling that I'm not "accomplishing" anything. :>(

Allan

Wish I would have had more time to look at that stuff when I was out there.

Just tryin to figure out how the darn thing works.

With all those cables and all.

As high as that thing reaches you must have dumped right in the haymow door with the loader.LOL

Hi Gary,

Inside the left upper arm is a long hydraulic cylinder, anchored at the forward end, with the ram pointing back towards the rear of the tractor and the ram travels up and down inside the arm on two three-inch rollers to guide it.

The cable is looped and clamped at the head of the ram, then routed back out the upper end of the arm, around a couple of pulleys and out to the top of the uprights. This gives the thing hydraulic control of the head tilt.

We don't store hay inside, just build stacks. But back in the day of loose hay, the stacks would dwarf the size of a barn. :>)

Boy, if I had a dime for everytime I heard someone say "Cowman made me do it," I'd have...about 10 cents.

Looking good old man LOL. You should be able to stack your rounds way up there now. My Dad and I stacked 3800 squares into three stacks in a 14 hour day back in 64' with an older model F10 under a MH44D. No lyin' with my hand up. That was at a nickle a bale. This was in an 80 acre field of Broome/Timothy/Alfalfa hay that was taller than the Super C that mowed it down.
Best cable to use on those beasts is that no-twist stuff well drillers use.

You and I went to the same school. Hit those rascals in road gear and pack 'em in there like matches in a box.

The good old days, right? Right? RIGHT? :>)

Farmhand must have had millions of users of their haystacker-loader in the Daokotas during the 50s-60s. Saved a lot of backs.

Yep, they are all over out here. Just another one of those "out of vouge" machines.

Still my favorite tho. :>)

Pretty funny looking things. Thats for sure. But I can tell by looking that its the right way to pick up a load with a tractor. All the weight is on the rear Axles just as it should be. I bet driving it with a bale on the front is even easy. Looks like it would give the whole tractor more traction.

Nice part is the visability; wide open like there is not even a loader on the tractor (should have taken a picture from the seat).

I had forgotten how much I missed this thing. They are fast, Way fast! :>)

Tim, they musta made a million of those F10"s. Dakotas on down into Oklahoma, Colorado Montana and Idaho and a few in Utah. These were first used with a hay sweep to put up loose hay and then were used to scoop small square right out of the field and into stacks at the edge of the field or loaded onto trucks. John Deere even made a copy that had a self leveling head as well. These loaders came in three variants through the production run. A hi-llift jack a couple cotton wood stumps, drop the pump and remove four 5/8" bolts and it was off the tractor. Most tractors you could leave the mounts on year round.
