Why is it every time i buy a tractor, I get it back to the shop to find it needs tires. I picked up a old John Deere B, flywheel start. It has one 1950s whitewall, one two rib steer, one Goodyear rear, and one Firestone rear that has a hole in it i could stick my arm through! Im starting to know my tire guy so well i know his wife and kids names. This aint good, do any of you guys have the same luck?

I am really not seeing a problem here. Can someone explain it to me?

Who would sell a tractor with good rubber? The only reason I can see is if something else is wrong with it.... Bad enough that it can't wear out the tires.

Every tractor on eBay seems to have car tires on the front. Mine was no exception. It had good rear tires, but it had a bad hyd pump, broken bottom arm mount, trashed spindles, destroyed motor, no seals, bad brakes, and a thrashed body w/rust. It didn't have a seat, which didn't matter cause I already lost my a**.

Feel better yet?

Aaron

Try looking at crawler tractors. Most have the undercarrage run right off them.

If buying tractors needing tires makes us stupid, then we all would be.

I always figured anyone can buy one ready to go !!!! So I get the ones nobody wants and fix them and then get more money in them but it's spaced out over time and doesn't seem as bad.

It can be worse. I bought a Farmall MD with a seized engine. Total Rebuild Then I buy a Farmall H with the engine in a box. Total Rebuild I also have a 560D with a seized engine waiting for a total rebuild. I wish I could get by with only tires. LOL Brad

I always try to buy tractors with usable rubber....but there could be worse things than needing tires, right?

Good luck with the new tractor!

How about a photo of it?

At least with bad tires you can see some of what is wrong with the tractor. I usually get the ones that have cracked heads and bad TA"s.

When a 656 wont pull 3-14"s you know you are in trouble.
