i have to start getting the buck to doe ratio better beause there's so many does that they are pushing the bucks away and they dont come back much in the rut.

Had a 6 or 8 point buck that I almost shoot this morning but he just wouldn't get out in the open enough to take the shoot. Funny thing was he jumped up and ran about 20 yards and let me walk up on him 3 times before he took off for who knows where. To many trees and brush to take the shoot, so he will live one more day at least. At least I know where he is so maybe in the next week or 2 I'll see if he jumps in front of my arrow. LOL. And all I was doing was checking out my wild life plot and not really doing any true hunting.

Hey Old about three years ago just north of you on 7 I got one just before the curves the about one week later I got another just after the curves. Both times it was running right down my lane when I popped over a little hill, and didn"t do any damage to the truck. It didn"t do ether deer any good.

Boy hate to say it, but that sure looks like Bambi. Not to big, especially foor area..:>)
Nice looking deer anyway. I quit deer hunting about 8 years ago, and elk hunting last year

I told my daughter who lives in OK. that the deer out there are so small you could run down and kill them with a stick...:>) But she didn't agree with me.

Daughter told me they had to have horns a certain length before you could shoot them, and I said "see if you have to measure the horns then you could chase it down and kill it with a stick,or a very long tape measure".:>)...:>)

Nice Deer!
Glad to see someone besides me that's out for the meat and not just the horns. (Not that I wouldn't shoot a 140 inch stud of a buck)
The opener is coming up here soon. Three weeks now.
We're geting excieted. Looked waaaay in the back of the closet this weekend to see if my gun and box of deer hunting stuff is still there. Of course it is. Will probably drag it out and have a look in another week or so. Leave everything spread out in the living room for a few days. Maybe you need new gloves or another box of shells which would warrant a trip to Cabellas.
Probably not. But you gotta go through the routine.
I put in two half acre food plots this year and they are being browsed heavily.
It's just about that time.
Bring it on!

I agree with the doe and buck ratio, we have too many does on my farm. We took about 35 off last year and it did not even dent the population.
