At the risk of starting a war here, I have never seen an earlier Ford that even had brakes. Usually the seals have puked and the drum is full of 90 weight, but then, the shoes never wear out either. On the other hand I am not a big fan of the IH disk system, it seems to work all right for a tractor that is in continuous use, but loses it when the tractor sits for long periods. The advantage I see for the IH system is that it acts on the bull pinion, giving it some gear reduction against the axle, whereas the Ford brake is directly on the axle. I have a 330U, basically a 300 with the C135 engine, and I wouldn't trade it for a 9N. Live power, live hydraulics,power steering, more weight and power. When I got it I thought I wouldn't like the fast hitch, but I have gotten used to it, and I do have a three point adaptor. I certainly wouldn't put a loader on either one, the Ford would steer hard without power steering, and I understand from other posts the the IH might soon stop steering at all.
