Will It Work?

I don't wanna hear "I told ya so", or "Thought you didn't like cabs" er whatever else comes to mind. :>)

Winter is coming on and I gotta feed the babies.

Anyhoo, just bought this cab over the phone; bought it cheaper than a comfort cover and I want to drop it down inside the loader and mount it on this tractor.

Fellow says it originally was on a IH 656.

I'm with Gary on this one, the "86 series with the mid mount loader would be my preference, but I know you have a soft spot in your heart for the old farmhand.

Once you do have that cab in place you will need a few more things. Lights. I don't know about you, but I always seem to have something needing doing after dark in the winter. The second is a heater in that cab. For very little money and a few hours installation you can put in one of those auxillary stand alone heaters. I put one in my old 4010, sure makes it more comfortable than just the heat off the transmission.

I was all set to run down to the salvage yard and try to find a rear-entry type cab of some type.

Then, yesterday, I kind of off-handedly asked this fella to send me some pictures of the goofy thing. When I saw how narrow it was, kind of "guessed" it would work.

If it won't do the job, it is yours for sure.

Had a hired man one time who had a 5020 John Deere with one of these old cabs on it.

I can remember him crawling up on that thing and somehow, he stepped in thru the top part of the door.

I'm probably rowing uphill on this one.

Started the day off looking for one of these Heat Housers. They want $320 for a new one; I had two old used things hanging in the barn, but they wouldn't fit as they were made for a little Ford tractor. :>(

Then, this authentic old IH cab jumps up for a $100 bill including all attachments, floor and mounting brackets.

Yep, side braces and access are a problem. Fenders have to come off too and I haven't even thought about the controls yet.

Maybe I'm painting myself in a corner on this project. :>)

Them rattle-trap aftermarket cabs... *shudder* Hot in the summer, cold in the winter and loud the Year-A-Round ;-)

I knew you put that loader on the wrong tractor.

Those big tractors really handle a bale.

And the cab is nice when the snow is a blowin.

Thats the biggest reason for the loader on the 1086.

Fenders have to come off and the complete floorboard would have to be changed as the cab has it's own "different style" floor.

Dunno tho, I can have that loader off in 10 minutes.

Those old cabs had "half doors", which I'll need to miss that loader brace comming down to the front of the tractor.
