Hi;
Life is pretty tough right now, my wife has been in & out of hospital 3 times in the past few weeks. She has a re-occurrence of Crohns Disease which is very serious infection of the intestine.
May require a big operation which could mean several weeks in hospital & months recovering.
So will get onto forum as when I can.

I hav'nt heard from Howard Nebraska Cowman - is he okay?

Cheers David

Prayers for speedy recovery and for the whole family as well. I worked a couple of years with a man who had Crohn's. He was (is) one of the best drywall finishers I've ever seen! Didn't let it slow him down a bit! One of our state colleges also has a head football coach who has Crohn's (he is a former U of Nebraska quaterback). Good luck and Godspeed!

David, We definitely wish your wife a speedy recovery, hopefully without the surgery. Either way, you are both in my thoughts and prayers. We'll be looking forward to your occasional posts. Tim

David im sorry to hear about your wife. It runs in our family, my mom had it ,niece with UC as well as me.They are doing some very good work in the netherlands as well as here in Canada on it, one is treating the patient with PRE biotics, food for the good bacteria that should be in the intenstine, once that is done they introduce the good bacteria pro boitics, i have treated myself but could only get the pro with the food, it tookabout 6 pills a day about a month and a half before it started working i was about to give up as i didn,t belive.today i take 6 pills in the moring and am doing very well all natural, if i get sick from something and i have a stomache or any UC related problems i take 6 more , in an hour im feeling great. Docs here don,t really belive me much but im 200lbs again and doing great , that confuses them.Look for pre-biotics or pro boitics with the pre in it and stick to it , two months should let you know if it will help. What works for one with this disease doesn,t always help the other , that,s why we try everything i guess, good luck and god bless your wife.

I normally post here as "Jubal Lee" but for some reason I can't get on using that this morning. Sorry to hear of your wife's illness. My prayers and thought are with both of you. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 1997 and underwent emergency surgery. It is nasty stuff. I know what you all are going through. I am blessed in that I have had no problems in several years. Thank the Lord that miracles still do happen and we will pray for one in your wifes situation. God bless you both.

David, My wife had very serious ulcerative colitis, bordering on Crohns, and she basically cured herself. She ate no carbohydrates of any kind, for about 3 years. No sugar, no bread, no pasta, just meat and low-carb vegetables. Used only honey for sweetening. She can now eat anything again, even her beloved Mexican food. The doctors were amazed- they said the medicine might control the disease, but they had never seen the medicine cure it. She told them, "You still haven't- I quit taking it about a year ago". There's a book with the diet- has lots of substitutes, like almond flour for muffins, etc. I'll get the name of it and post it.

Wishing the very best to your wife and to your family. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers.

I understand, at least to a degree, the devestation of a long illness and rehabilitation. My wife had breast cancer two years ago, many surgeries and treatments later she is ok. Friends and family, in r/t and online got us through it. When I was holding the trashcan for her I never knew that 2 short years later I would be the invalid needing constant care. Keep your spirits up, she needs you. For me at least, the nights are the worst, I can be strong during the day, its when the house is quiet at night that I start to fall apart sometimes.

The devil likes to come around in the wee hours when it seems the rest of the world is asleep. It can be a testing time. Just remember, there are others of us awake too and we share many of the same troubles and concerns. Have a little talk with the man upstairs or jump online and see what's new on YT.

Keep your head up, my friend. The sun is never more than a few hours away.

David,

Sorry to read your post and please give your wife our regards from over here.

Did you know Max when you were with Dowdeswells? I met him down at Boreham House many times and in local ploughing matches with his Model N.

Just adding my best wishes as well. I echo many other postings that it is informative and fun to read about the way you do things in the U.K. and see your pictures.

So as soon as you are able we look forward to having many Internet exchanges with you.

Larry

Last I knew he is in PA visiting his father and probably has no access to a computer.

Hope every thing goes okay for your wife.
