I just love the photo ads descrptions, when they say stuff like "farm fresh". Is that supposed to be a good thing? Most farm tractors off the farm are so cobbled up it isn't funny. I have seen weld jobs that look like they were done with eyes closed. I have seen tire breaks with bolted in pieces. Farm Fresh!!!!! !!

i love farm fresh or orignal as long as their in good ocndition i think its amazing what a tractor ends up like after 60years. the biggest joke i think is ran when parked 12 years ago or restored tractors most are just painted or done so people can take to trACTOR SHOWS AND BRAG I JUST KINDA CHUCKLE WHEN I ASK PEOPLE WHAT THEY DID AND SAY I LOADED IT UP ON A TRAILER AND TOOK IT TO A GUYS SHOP.

"Farm Fresh" and "extensively field tested" aren't the worst things in the world. I bought my last tractor "farm fresh" and was pleased with the result. A description is a description, but you still have to look it over with your own eyes. The onus still rests upon the buyer. I crawled all over that last tractor before I bought it. I didn't want to miss anything that might come up and bite me in the *ss later on. And so far I've been pleased...but I'm sure my day is coming. I'll buy that next lemon thinking I probably stole the thing!

Isn't it a great hobby!

Billy---I have been crawling all over tractors now for several years and I never catch everything that is wrong. If you like Farm Fresh that is okay, I find it laughable though.

I just got a 602 MM LP . The guy must have had short legs, because he cut the brake and clutch pedals and welded in 1/2 inch bolt pedal extenders, threads and all. I also got a 1066 & a 1486 with car seats. What is up with car seats? I never had a problem with the IH seat.

Well, the point is that when you see the frames have been welded, half of the electrical system by-passed, and Permatex oozing from every mating surface...I stay away from that type of "farm fresh". "Farm fresh" can mean hammered to death and fixed poorly...or it can mean used during it's life and properly maintained. It all depends upon which of those two scenarios you walk into. Just glancing over a tractor usually gives you enough insight to which of the two you are looking at.

Just my opinion.

There's a local feller here who has sturips mounted in the place of the steps on his tractor.

I'd rather have one that's been working for a living as opposed to these so-called "restored" tractors with nothing more than a Mop n' Glow paint job.

As far as "farm fresh"...I think one of the best places to find one of those would be off Allan's spread.☺

Myself i always prefered the TERM of extencive field tested , In all the years that i bought and soldand repaired tractors i learned one thing NEVER BUY A TRACTOR WITH a hand written pettagree at a consignment auction as 99.99 % of the time what is under that pice of papaer wrapped in a nice plastic bag would not even make a parts tractor and doubtful if it would make a TOYTOA . Oh how i know well lets just say that experance taught me well as i have bought better tractors out of the DEAD ROW.

What you say is true, however, that is the only "perfect" way to buy a farm tractor. One that is setting at the end of a field after just doing farm work.

The worst thing you can do is "park" a tractor. They gotta be worked and worked hard to keep 'em happy.

Also, and just for what it is worth, I'd never, ever, under any circumstances buy a "puller" either.
