Hi Cowman, the only thing you are missing out on is the Diesel. I am just under 14K empty, and 29+ fully loaded, and running 75mph is no problem with a manual trans and 3.54 gears. In my opinion, the higher gears are a waste of time and money because with the 3.54s you already have more power than you have chassis and brakes. In real hills I do have to go real fast or slow down a little and pull in 4th, but you can still run the speed limit without winding it hard. Seems like the wind will pull it harder than the load. Pulling hard at speed is not a problem, the trouble starts when you get comfortable at 75mph and some idiot passes you because his left turn is only 1/8 mile ahead, or pulls out in front of you. I only put on about 10K miles a year, and I am seriously considering shortening an old farm straight truck just to get some real brakes.
