Has anyone ever tried to convert an old JD 95 combine into a self propelled sprayer? I was thinking of making a 60' boom myself and mounting it in place of the head for hydraulic height control and swing arms. That way I could watch the boom. Thought about finding a hydro off an old combine to put on for more ground speed control. Could mount a spray tank in place of the grain tank? Any thoughts? If someone has already done it could they give me an estimate of the cost? Thanks. I appreciate it.

Hey Triplerange, like is said below, check out www.farmshow.com

The farmers in America just never cease to amaze me. There are usually two or three or sometimes more rigs of every kind and descriiption built out of old but otherwise usable combines. Most of the time they take all of the combine guts and tank out and off and lower the engine and cab and go from there. They build everything from loaders to snow blades, snowblowers, sprayers, bale carriers, you name it. Happy building and good luck, Harley

2-3 years of working here and there.Still tweak on it every year.Love the visibility and manuverabilty.Leave water in it till fire danger has passed or start to freeze. It is a great fire fire vehicle also.Go with tall skinny tires for less compaction and an hydraulic driven sprayer pump that allows for constant pressure no matter what ground or engine speed is.We have our boom in15 ft sections for control.Steve

Countless versions of that project in Farm Show magazine- from simple to very elaborate. Good use for outdated equipment. Also made into snow blowers, loaders, rock pickers, fork lifts, etc.
