I"m not a diesel mechanic so bear with me here please. I"ve searched the archives and can"t find anything similar. I"ve got this odd stuff going on with oil out the breather. I can start the tractor and it has some blow by, but runs strong anyhow. After about two or three minutes, the breather seems to fill with oil and start to leak out the dump tube. Can be revved or idling--doesn"t seem to matter. Turn it off, give it a minute or so, and it will start and run a while and then the breather can fills and it starts to dump oil again. The top of the tube inside the breather can is higher than the top of the oil filter on this rig. Seems to be some pressure in the valve covers, but taking the caps off and releasing that doesn"t have any effect. Thought it might just be overfilled, so I changed the oil and filter and it was way overfilled. Added the the right amount according to the book (7.4 qts.), but it still does it, but no oil registers on the dipstick. I can take off the valve cover filler caps, and it"s not full up there--splashes a lot is all. It"s like the middle of the engine, just below head level, is filling up and putting the oil out into the breather hole on the block. I think the thing would pump oil through the breather till it ran dry. What drains the area around the cam? Is it possible there are plugged return holes below the head from the cam area to the pan? I"ve go the service manual but can"t tell for sure just what is what. Thanks much, Robert
