Looking for information and pictures for aftermarket and IH cabs for the 06 series or 56 Farmall/IH tractors. I have a 706 and thought of putting a cab onto it, but would like to know what some of the cabs that were out at that time for them. Seen something like the Hiniker cabs or Year-round cabs. I want to know about the cabs that were removable for them series tractors. As for winter I want a cab and summer have it open platform. Thanks!

I just took a year a round QT-1 cab off an oliver tractor. It was hot in the summer, but mostly I didn't like the noise and somewhat limited visibility. It was nice in the winter though. I would not say its easy to take off and on. Allen is right, it will "roll" backwards, but not on my tractor, as the hydraulic pump is under the seat and blocks it. Maybe on a Farmall it would, and that would really make it a lot easier to get off and on.

Sean,

Back then, a "cabbed" tractor was almost unheard of. Any IH tractor that left the factory with a cab had one that was sublet to other companys and IH didn't build their own cabs until about '72 with the 66 series.

If you want to be able to remove it easily, you most certainly want an Egging, Heniker or Year-Around because they will "rotate" on the rear pivots. The "Year Around" was the best of the aftermarket bunch.

Be advised tho, they are noisey, loud and dirty.

Mornin Allan

Did you ever run down that 966 in the picture?

Sean there are several cabs sitting in the salvage yards from those tractors.

You might look there.

Hi Gary,

Where in the heck have you been? Haven't seen ya on here for a long time. :>(

The tractor in the picture is way up in the north central part of Wyoming or southern Montana. Don't know for sure if it is my old one or not, but it darned sure looks like 'er. :>)
