After I get the Calcium chloride out of the tires, what do I have to do to keep it from continuing to eat at the rims? Is there anything I can use to neutralize this stuff?, besides alot of water.
Thanks,
Charles

Allan,

I think I follow ya on that line of thinkin'.... CaCl seems to evoke opinions like nuclear power. Either ya love it or hate it.... and the ones that hate it, hate it because something might go wrong someday.
I've got to say that I've changed quite a variety of wheels over the years. Only one was from CaCl, and that one was allowed to leak for years (probably 5)... and the wheel could have been repaired. I've yet to see CaCl eat a dry wheel. I've got some around here that haven't had a valve cap off in 15 years. Most of the wheels that I've changed have been from stress failures or manure eating them away... CaCl isn't the boogeyman it's made out to be in my mind, if the wheels are maintained and not allowed to leak....
But, to each their own....

Rod

Yeah,

The tractor was just fine out in Colorado for 60 years and now all of a sudden, we have one huge catastrophe on our hands! :>)

Allen, I found a small amount leaking around the valve stem. The guy took some silver paint and sprayed over the damage. Things always seem to look better in pictures. As soon as I get this tractor running better, I'm hauling it over to the tire shop to get this stuff out. To some it's just salt, to the "save the earth" people, it's might as well be a nuclear bomb. To me, it's some expensive rims if I don't take care of it quick! :)

Did you have a leak? If so youll have to dismount the tire and tube and wash them with soap and water.....wash the rims ,sand prime and repaint them.....
