Lately I've been reading about 340's and was wandering if anybody had any experience with them or knew how many of them were around.

I've had row crop version for a few years now. Rather worn out. Haven't used it for power, just pulling wagons. It makes me think of an updated H with live hyd and a fast hitch. I like it so far just needs an overhaul

We had one with a cotton picker mounted on it. Took picker off after cotton was picked and used it to pull a harrow and other jobs. Great tractor.

I own a Farmall 340 and have for 5 years. It came out of Idaho and had a little fire under the gas tank and melted a little wiring. The owner was scared it would happen again so he brought it to a salvage place. The man in Idaho called me knowing I was looking and the rest has been great. Mine turned 38 horse on the dyno and its the one I grab for our plow day and have a fast hitch blade to smooth out some landscape. I love the 340 with the 135 motor and power steering and I have conversion arms and top link bracket installed and used it for cultivating and tine harrowwing with 3pt. I had a 340 Utility for about 3 weeks but sold it the day after I got the Farmall. I also found a Farmall 240 this year and just got it all fixed and out of the paint shop. Grab one if you can find one. You will not be sorry. Migraine

Just got one a month or so ago. Seems like it will be a good little tractor but as far as power probably good for a rake tractor or maybe a fence line tractor, good for the 3 point post driver

No actual hands on experience but I've seen them do a few things that a bigger tractor just wouldn't do. They are compact, relatively light weight, and quite powerful for their size. You just can't beat a combination like that.
