At the risk of sounding like Jerry Seinfeld or Andy Rooney why in the world do sale bills always say diesel engine tractor? Such as IH1066D Diesel engine tractor did IH ever make a gasoline or LPG powered 1066 tractor? Or things like IH1066 Diesel Turbo did IH make a non turboed 1066? It seems like some of these auction companies are a bunch of city slickers. Just having a little fun besides that extra type in the newspaper costs big bucks but I am looking for a IH Hydro 100 gasoline engine gear drive tractor all factory of course (just kidding in case there is one out there). It sure would catch my eye if a sale bill was in the paper that said Nice JD8630G 4WD non turboed tractor with towable 650 gallon gas tank, I'd get a plane ticket to see that one just to see how bad the paint was burned off the hood. Have a good one. CT

You got it! Some times life gets so serious we miss the lighter side. I've been there too and have to go this many years before I laugh at things that happened a long time ago and I find myself laughing even today at something someone said a long time ago. I still laugh at things my dad would say (he lived to be 94) when reminded by my old friends. Remember, laughter is still the best medicine.Hey! maybe YT should put in farm laughter section. Keep smilin. CT

Does "always shedded" mean it never did run long enough to make it outside?

I think some of the stuff comes out to the office. We miss spell stuff on here all the time talk'n bout this stuff. Imagine being one of the poor girls working in the office when an aution outfit puts on a consignment sale. I am going to a sale this week that has and I quote "8' disk bushhog mower, 10'crow cut mower, 24' greek plains 7 1/2" drill, hydraulic dirt don, 15' great plains bushhog, and a ford truck with a factory rebuilt 350". I can decifer most of this but does any ont know what a crow cut mower is, that one left me scratch'n my head.

In a local sale recently they listed a 'peavey can't hook.' What good is a cant hook that won't hook?

I knew what they were trying to say. It's just the contraction of cannot changed the whole meaning.
Is a peavey cantle hook used to pry someone out of the saddle? :)

Sam,.... :>) NO, a "peavey" is used by loggers, it has a metal jaw and a wooden handle.

Maybe the auctioneers themselves aren't city slickers, but trying to sell the tractors to the city slickers...

Also, there are so many numbered tractors out there today that it is impossible to know and understand the system that each manufacturer uses to tell how a tractor is equipped.

I know you were just poking fun...

I do understand what your saying for sure I once managed a large farm and the owner felt like he had to put his two cents in one morning and came into the morning planning meeting and suggest we move the IH One thousand six hundred eighty harvestor down to the south quadrant to run corn till things dried enough to run beans, we all stood there dumbfounded for a few seconds then we broke out in hysterical laughter he stormed off in his K- one thousand five hundred Blazer! It looked like something from an old western comedy.

I never even thought of that! Always said 1086 as "ten eighty-six" 1256 is "twelve fifty-six" etc. And, of course I just bought a Dodge Ram twenty-five hundred (not two-thousand five hundred)...

Funny story you have there!

Years ago, several neighbors had DEERE "one-oh-five combines.

But, one guy had to be an "oddball". He had a "hundred-and-five"!

Always thought a good oxymoron was a hot water heater. How hot do you need the water if you are heating hot water again?
