Nothing like good ole warm electric heat. Set the thermostat to 78 and enjoy.

Hi animal

From a cost study I did seveal years ago:
natrual gas:$.34/btu/hr
Heat pump= $.44/btu/hr (45º design or geothermal)
LP $.88btu/hr
Electric heat= $2.34/btu/hr

Although the above is not a direct conversion for your project, it's close enough to call the ball game.

A kilo watt is a kilo watt. Don't matter if it's at 115v or 230v for energy usage calc's . Watts is how electric usage is calculated.

Hey Guy,

Glad to hear it; ya shouldn't have to work in the cold as old as you are. He, he , he. :>) (Just kiddin' ya)

Hey! Just be sure to hook it up 220. Plug 'er in at 110 and it will eat you alive.

It was 60 here today; spent the whole afternoon at a dealers lot tractor shopping and really, really had a good time.

Allan

I woke up to 14F this morning here in Kentucky, supposed to be colder tonight. Anyway..the story of northern Florida reminds me several years ago when I went down to visit my sister in Tallahassee. It was maybe in the 40's here and I thought heck..I'm going to Florida...won't need a coat! HAR! I woke up the next morning down there with frost on the windshield! At least I had a windbreaker in the truck. It's hotter than the 3rd level of Hades down there in the summer and capable of freezing the cajones off in the winter...I haven't been back in 9 years!

Snicker.... The funniest thing I have seen yet was the Florida guy who came to pick up my old IH241 baler.
It was 14 deg below that day with a brisk wind.

Now my hands are used to that kind of cold. I never even wear any thing thiker than just brown jersey gloves. No matter how cold it is.

This poor guy was in pain. He had more clothing on than any one I have ever seen and he was still froze.

He was jumping around trying to keep his feet warm. Saying " Cripes how the heck do you people live here! this is the coldest I have ever been in my life."

I just said. " What? this is not too bad. Give it another week or so and see what -60 is like. This is just a little crunchie cold now.

On the other side I have been if Geogia and South Carolina when it was 110 deg with real humidity. No thanks. I will stay here.

The coldest I've ever been was when I was stationed down in Flordia years ago.

Temp was above freezing, but that cold wet wind coming in off that ocean was just absolutely miserable.

My Bro-in-law moved to Florida years ago. We went down to visit one time (of several) and he gave me his fleece lined coat-said he'd never need it there. It feels good here in PA. BUT__His wife and him got too sick to be by themselves, so they moved up near Philadelphia, to be near their daughter, and wouldn't ya know--the weather here and there is BITTER!! Well, he got too fat to wear it, so he said keep it--and i am! (Not fat) I heat up the garage with a torpedo heater, then turn it off and light up the kero box heater--keeps the place workable.
