O/T-Freightliner FL112

I know this is way O/T but with all your vast knowledge I need your help. I have a customer wanting to trade-in a FL112 extended cab Freightliner in on some other equipment, since we are a trailer and tanker dealer I'm kind of lost on this one.
It is a 1999 model with 187,500 miles, C-12 Cat, 355 HP, 200 inch wheelbase, Twin screw, 10 aluminum wheels, air ride, he special ordered it with about everything you could get on it.
Any ideas what it might bring retail.

We bought one a couple of years ago. 195,000 miles, fresh paint, new retreads. Has been a great truck. Has a Cummins w/370 chip. We really like the daycab set-up. If I remember right we gave $17,000 boot and our tired old Int 4300. Thought it was a good buy. Had a little sensor trouble but nothing major.

An FL112 and an FLD112 are two different trucks. Different cabs, hoods engine sizes ect. 112 BBC is the only thing the same. 112 BBC means inches from bumper to back of cab, not including sleeper or extended cab. In other words a short hood.

Sad to say, but to be honest, that's probably a 15 grand truck. Don't matter what options it's got. It's a fleet spec truck, and fleets don't keep anything much over 5 years, so there isn't much market there. So, you're looking for an owner operator that will put up with a 355 Cat, or one who doesn't need big power. If it's got a removable bunk, then that's a plus because it's open to the guys who'll tear the bunk off and throw a dump box on.... Otherwise, mabey a farm who needs a cheap tractor, or somebody who needs a float truck that doesn't do much work. Cheap is the word. She's worth more in parts than on the road.... The need for a set of drives isn't helping... For what it's worth....

This FLD112 sounds like it would make a good farm truck (grain hauler). It definitely has low miles if they are correct (check the mileage on the ECM). The C-12 is a good motor but a small motor (lighter in weight). What transmission does it have? What is the final drive ratio? What tire size? Does it have a sliding 5th wheel? What size sleeper does it have? With the 200" wheelbase it is probably a 48". Is it a sharp looking truck or is it scratched up, faded, or beat up looking? Appearance says a lot about how it was cared for. What service records does he have? Why does it have so few miles? Sounds like a good light weight, low mileage truck. Make sure you can verify the mileage.

Ron I found the component information sheet: Build Date 12/98 which would make it a 99 model.
Meritor RMX10-155C Trans., Meritor FF-961 front axle @ 12,000#, (2)Meritor RT-40-145 rear axle @40,000#, Ratio 3.73, Color N0007H white Imron, Model N138064S T, Cat C-12 355 HP @ 2100 RPM, Jake Brake, Wheelbase 200", Yes it does have a air sliding fifth wheel, Sleeper size 24", Tire size 295/75R/22.5, (10) Aluminum wheels, Power windows, Heated Moto Mirrows, Aluminum tool box, Paints not faded, No dents or cracks, interiors very clean.
It had pulled a 42' dry van from Springfield to St. Louis and Kansas City filled with concrete yard orniments that they made. I have not checked the ECM for mileage but I know these people and I would say it is correct it shows 187,181, Only the father and his two sons drove it never a hired hand. Six tires are like new the rear axle needs replacing soon. Has all the manuals and a new set of tire chains in the tool box. I don't know about the service records but I would say they did there own service on it. By talking with them I get the impression they want somewhere around $27,000 for it.

Hey Walter, NADA publishes a book that covers medium and heavy duty trucks... your local bank should have a copy. Don't know about where you are, but around here there seems to be a significant number of trucks on the market... so it's pretty hard to turn one around. My neighbor has had a nice Ford LTL 9000 for sale for more than a year now... wife's boss' husband has had his Freighter up for about the same amount of time... no takers. There are numerous dealers and "for sale by owner" lots around... doesn't seem to be a lot moving. I'd think long & hard before making the deal! HTH... for what it's worth...
