I've been missing out on the fun of spreading so far (just piling it out behind the barn) while I fix the old spreader. Floor is just too far gone for bandaids, so putting a new floor in. The thing was flexing a lot on the corners, with the result that the chain catches on various things underneath and breaks- so am using a piece of 3/4 exterior plywood to try to stiffen it up a bit, and am going to paint it up real good with wood preservative. Should do the sides while I'm at it, but a guy can only stand so much fun at one time.

Gary: Glamour, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Now, my dad alway said beauty was only skin deep. At least that is what he advised one of my brothers, after he had been rejected by a couple of quite shapely and glamours ladies.

In the case of your load of glamour, the skin deep rule probably doesn't apply. But then your load of manure, if too glamourous may suffer the same as one of my female cousins when she was a teenager. She had a boyfriend with the means to shower her with fancy clothes and cosmetics. Her dad always said, once he got her all dressed and painted up, he was afraid to take her anywhere for fear some other guy may run off with her. A fancy load of manure may suffer the same demise.

Nice looking SMTA, always nice to see brute strength doing the pulling job and the small tractor on the loader.

Nice rig. Also nice to know I'm not the only loon around here.

When I was a kid, I'd gladly spend a couple hours or more forking it out the window of the old milking parlor Dad had converted into a loafing shed for our beef critters.

All for the privilege of freezing my butt off hauling that raggedy old wooden spreader around behind our John Deere B.

Too bad my sheep critters don't generate enough "output" to justify a spreader...

I can't say I mind it much either. I love hauling manure right by the new neighbors house, especially after they raise a stink about a couple trees I cut down on our side of the fence...

Must be crazy, but I love the job. I won"t let anybody else pull the old spreader. Let the manure sit in a pile and cook for 6 months, and the smell is wonderful. Almost as good as plowing. Almost. My neiboud raises pigs, and I get his for free, but on his schedule...Not the best smell, but still better than the smell of a 9 to 5 job. Mike

Gary good looking S-mta.Got 2 like that. one we put a new TA in and never did get it to work.not at all.

Need to know one thing.Will the new ideal company stand behind that emplement.

Don't you just love the sweet smell?? I know with my sreader you need to wear a helmit or the stuff will hit you on the back of the head and froozen horse apples don't fell very good on the back of the head. LOL

I actually enjoy that job... and I usually pitch out the barn pens by hand into my IH 100 manure spreader hooked up to the Farmall A... good times!

2 Massey's, a Ferguson, 2 Fords and one moldy green one in my shed. And the green one is going away soon. As soon as it's gone, another Massey will take it's place. Fords and Masseys are still extremely popular in this area.

Well now,I own a 6000 D with a turbo---a 971 gold demo--and a 960 that are painted and running--have a 981 D gold demo needs overhauled and painted--a 52 8n with 850 hrs on the tach,needs painted---I grew up on Fords in the 50 and 60's

I don't mine doing it. I enjoy it also.Its just not very glamorous because of looks and smell.(:~})

Yeap David I got one Ford but it stays in a different shed than the reds ones so they don't fight when I turn my back.

you use a blue one to pull the red one out of the way so you con put the green one on to pull the load on through.

I does clean your sinuses out!! I used to work on my days off for a friend who had a large feedlot. He had a JD crawler with loader and a Kenworth with a spreader on the back. I recall it being a lot of fun.
