Thanks to all you folks in my tractor quest. Been reading and posting numerous threads here on YDT for quite a while. After lookin' at countless ads and researching various tractors I stumbled across a 43 Case VAI that was just too good a deal to pass up.

A friend and I brought her home today. She doesn't want to start with the starter button, but after pullin' here around with his JD, she finally sputtered and coughed and finally came to life. I was grinnin' from ear to ear.

She's not perfect, but for less than five hundred bucks I couldn't pass it up. Tin is good, very little rust, no cracks or welds, but the rear's are on their last leg, carb leaks like a sieve, brakes are weak, battery/starter weak, but she's turns over and runs with a pull.

So back to the Case forum I go and let the fun begin.

Thanks,

DP

I saw that tractor a few weeks ago(Lakeville)it started right up with starter button clean and check connections.
looked like a very heavy duty set up. Good luck.

My first was also a Case VAI (1956), bought a year and a half ago. Great tough little machine. Here she is last Sunday after hauling three loads of fieldstone from the fields back to my stonewall project. I swear, she runs better after a good work out; hates sitting idle in the garage.

A good deal and if she runs you should be able to fix the rest. Best of luck and enjoy!

Good For You Young Feller!

But, be aware tho. It is a bad habit to get in to.

In just a few short years, you're gonna have a whole yard full of the darned things. And they don't breed either! :>)

Bad habit to get into? Yes.
Yard full in a few years? Yes.
They don't breed? You just don't know how glad I am to hear that. I'm planning on showing that to my wife, she always claimed my cars were breeding out there in the yard and I never doubted her. I'm picking up my second tractor Saturday so this will indeed be great news for her! Thanks Allan!
Pic 1 is the one I'm picking up Saturday. Pic 2 is the one I already have. Pic 3, 4 and 5 are of the breeding cars in my yard.

The're not breeding, they are growing in the trees and falling to the ground like nuts.

Looks like your area is good "falcon habitat". Is that a '66 or '67 Fairlane under the trees? I used to have a '67 2 door sedan. 289 V8, automatic and got 20 mpg on the highway. One day I figured out why. It had 2.73 gears in the rear. It never was a jackrabbit off the line but it sure would cruise!

Yep, that is indeed a 67 Fairlane but it's a 4 door. 289 2bbl and C4 automatic. Honestly never checked the mileage, learned not to bother with a V8 as I have a heavy foot. I only drive the Fairlane now and then because of that, my normal ride is the light blue 70 model Falcon because it's a 200 six and 3 on the tree. No matter how hard I drive her she always gets 20+ mpg.

Yep, mine looked a lot like that....same color. Only difference was mine was a 2 door sedan (window post) which seems less common than a 2 door hardtop.

Hmmmmm, I guess we need to all get together and buy Allan some new glasses for Christmas. Sheesh bud, there isn't any thing other than Falcons, Rancheros and one Fairlane in that bunch. As for the goat, let me see what I can do fer 'ya.
