Are the diesel fuel additives really worth using. Also do they go bad after a couple years (I've had some setting on a shelf for a couple years, wonder if I can use it)? Thank you in advance. Doug

Here's a bit more about the ULSD fuel and its' effects on current and older diesels.

The low sulfur fuels are supposed to have an additive package to alleviate lubricity problems. The lack of lubricity that occurs in low sulfur fuels is not due to the lack of sulfur but is due to the process that removes the sulfur.

Lucas fuel treatment. Buy it by the gallon at truck stops. Low Sulfer fuel is low lubrication fuel and Lucas adds lubrication back to the fuel.
Injector pump will be happy and you can feel it run smother on long pulls. It works great in my 98 chevy 1 ton so I put it in everthing but the company car.

They should have a pretty long shelf-life; you could check with the distributor or manufacturer and find out. I pretty much stick with Power Service for the anti -gel and lubricity properties but there are lots of good brands out there. The new Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel that became the on-road standard in October may behoove owners of older diesel cars and trucks to add conditioner to prevent premature wear to the injection system. I always add PS in my diesels with every fill up just in case the bulk plant gets skimpy on their additives; I consider it cheap insurance.

Depends on what brand. I use either Howe's brand of additve or Power Serve. I use them as an anti-gel. Have used some of the Cetane booster, did not any differance.
