It's 7:22 and still dark here.

I guess the days get longer from here right?

It is 41 degrees out and raining.

I don't know which is worse mud or snow?

You guys done Christmas shopping for the wife yet?

Sunrise 10:55 set 2:40. If you get on a high enough hill you can actually see it peek over the mtns. for a few min.
Only about 6" of snow and suposed to be -30 fri. nite.
By the way what is that thing every one keeps talking about called "Sun"??

Hi yep I got a present for the wife Monday. Usually I have gotten her something more practicle, Like (table saw, band saw, drill press, weed eater, belt sander, She did craft's for a while, even gave her a snow blower, a 20 riding tractor for the blower, a cab for the tractor). This year one of the daughters thought I should spring for something less practicle. So this year I went to the jewelry store my the other gifts seemed like I got a lot more for the money, she'll be surprised. We have been married for 43 years and we've had a good life, kids and grandkids will all be home around Christmas.

Christmas Shoping ???? heck i am still tryen to put the living room back together . This year i do not have the spirit and it is BAH HUMBUG . Everything is fighten me and holding back every job . Bought this wood filler that you are suppose to mix the stain with to fill holes ( the wife said buy this stuff as you can mix the stain with it and IT WON"T SHOW ) well i did what it said and spent alot of time plugen old hole as per the DIRECTIONS SAID ( i did read them before i started) and this JUNK is not dryen now that has things on hold as either i dig it all out and do something differant don't know got to redo the fan as i messed something up . Holiday spirit not this year.

Yeah...I prefer snow....specially around Christmas. Finished shopping and wrapping for the wife last Sunday. Of course she heard plenty of whining about how we outa be in church instead of spending money on ourselves. I'm looking forward to Spring and more light during the day.

Finally got light here in Michigan about 8:00. Raining again and we don't need any more water. Can't get into some of the woods to cut firewood as it is. It is the shortest day, but the earliest sunset actually is about Dec. 10, the latest sunrise is the first week in Jan. Actual change isn't much, just a few minutes. So if you are a pessimist you can say the sun is still rising later, or if you are an optimist you can say the sun has been setting later every day for two weeks. Spring is coming but it'll be a while.

Can anyone explain in layman's terms, why the sun sets later beginning around Dec 10 and begins rising earlier around Jan 5th? I received a 3 page dissertation from a meteorologist, but I still don't know. Thanks

The earth is tipped at an angle in relation to the sun. Our part of the earth (the northern hemisphere) is tipped furthest away from the sun on roughly Dec. 21st every year (winter solstice)
so we recieve the least amount of light from the sun on this day each year. Conversly, the 21st of june , we are the closest to the sun and recieve the most light. Hope this makes your day SUNNY Dean....Have a Merry Christmas. Larry NE IL

I put a new headlight in the pickup this morn, and it really didn't seem to make much difference. I've got about 7:40, and its still not real bright out. kinda glad i've gotta work today, otherwise i'd be out punishing myself setting under a tree muzzleloader hunting.

Ya, i got the wife a gift...may get in trouble for it though...she's never had a dishwasher, so i was going to get her one, but then somehow, she got it bought figured out. she really wanted one after she figured out what i was getting her, so i played it off. to keep our boy (he's almost 2) excited about the season, everyone has to have a gift from Santa. So "Santa" is giving her a sponge--not exactly the dishwasher she was expecting. My dilema is just how does one wrap a dishwasher, and get it under the tree? My thoughts at this point is that she's getting a package of the dishwasher detergents, and will get the picture from there.

How much rain did we end up getting? i ran to C.R. last night, and bout got drenched loading materials up at Menards for our house project.
