Hi Guys,

Kicked the duals off of Gary's 1066 this afternoon.

Now, I'm a bit concerned that since it is set on 60" centers that the wind might come up in the middle of the night and tip 'er over? :>)

Allan: Well you might worry, it looks like 30 mph gust would take it over.

I used to run my 1066 at 66" for the inside duals, forget the outside but there was about 4" between them. I only ever had the duals off a couple of times. Damn tractor scared me so bad I never took them off again. Now, I realize one would not get hurt in the ROPS cab, but who wants one of those tractors lying on it's side.

When I first went to 30" rows, I had to skinny up three tractors. I'm tellin' ya, those things made me kinda nervous for the first few days.

But, of course, out here on the level, I don't think ya could upset one if ya were paid to do it and after awhile, one just gets used to them being that way.

They sure look "tight-cheeked" tho, don't they? :>)

Allan: One day I had my duals off, and twice on level field I dropped one rear wheel in a dead furrow. That was enough thrill for me, on 66" those tractor tip a long ways in a 8" dead furrow.

I was following a tractor on 60" centers the other day. He was running on 8' wide gravel shoulder of a black top road in road gear. Ocasionally he'd hit shoulder wash outs. I swear the top of that cab went sideways a foot. Made me uncomfortable in my car. Glad I wasn't on foot in the ditch.

Doesn't look much narrower than our 1256 with loader on it, and we've only tipped it over once - full bucket of manure and a spindle broke!

night sleep. I'm going to get hit with
that weather tonight and tomarrow. At this time most everything is tied down here. Jim WJ

I'm more wondering where your snow is? Got about 12" here, and some big drifts in places. Just finished feeding and plowing snow and I'm calling it a night.

If you have 1 ft of snow, how much rain would that be equal too? Living in my part of calif, I never see that kind of snow. Stan

Stan here in Iowa we figure 12 inches of snow is about equal to 1" of rain.

But snow varys in moisture content.

We really lucked out on this one; all the snow is piled up in drifts of course, but Denver and that area took the big hit.

We didn't have a lot to do today as the Denver airports were all shut down and nobody could move about, so I had time to work on an old tractor. :>)

Gary must have been thinkin' when he bought this ol' sister tho; see it's got three sets of weights hangin' on the back. How come I never get deals like that? :>(

Yeah it wasn't all that bad here once it left with just 3" of snow on top of the icy rain and thunder sleet. Going to be a few days if and when it melts off for maybe a inch or less of moisture. Better than dry nothing. Some had 5-8" farther north of us yet they opened I-40 again by 7:30 yesterday morning so shutting it down overnight probably helped. Gary is going to need those weights though so at least you don't have to wrestle with them.

Yeah,

It was cold out there, but if I keep moving, the cold doesn't bother me much.

Yesterday was a bitcherroonie tho with that darned wind. Couldn't get anything done. :>(

Wasn"t that cold here (NE of Denver about 30 miles) but we got a bit of snow...most places have about 2 foot on the level. I have about 4 foot in the drive because of the trash dumpster and some stuff on the north side of the drive. We probably got about 2-3 feet, pretty decent storm.
