We had serious ice here starting Friday night, we lost rural electricity before dawn Sat. and it looks like a lot of people won't be back on for weeks, including me. Driving around in the country the trees and power lines look as if here had been a tornado everywhere! I have got some good pitures if I ever get my own comuter going again. Found one downed power line with ice built up in an oval shape, 7 inches from tip to tip. Anyway, I just found a computer in the city to search for an lp conversion for my generator and thought I would drop a line.

I just got back from Minden this morning. Delivered a digger-derrick for our guys(Michels Power) Our guys are comming in from jobs from five different states to help out. After being there, about all I can say is good luck to you poeple and I hope that you get your power back soon. It's a mess there. I hope that we never get a mess like that here in Wi.

I came by there on I80 Sunday about noon. I recognized some of the ditch dwellers. One that isn't shown was a small SUV that had been towing a U-Haul van. The SUV was on it's side and the van on it's top. The highway was in good shape by then but the reststops and side roads were still iced over. I hit Lincoln about 1500. They had snow on the ice. I took highway 2 east to I29. Big mistake, I should have stayed in Lincoln but it was more trouble to turn around.

I know how you feel .Here in central Illinois we were out for 5 1/2 days the first of Dec..It gets kinda costly running a tractor on the generator 24 hrs. a day at 2 gal.per hr.On the bright side we were warm and had water from the well. Sure played hell with the trees.took 3 days of sawing and burning to clean up the yard.

I got some pictures of the ice storm in south central NE via email today. Man, the damage is incredible. Even the big transmission lines sustained heavy damage. It will be several weeks before everyone has power again. We missed the ice here in north central NE the second time around but we were without power 68 hours from the first storm.

We've really been fortunate up here in the northwest. Just got a couple of nice wet snows which are melting down and soaking in.

Good luck with it... I've been listening to chainsaws for the past two weeks right outside my office window as work crews clean up around here. It still looks like a disaster area around Goodwell here in the Oklahoma Panhandle.

My folks have been without electricity for almost two weeks out in the country.

Power company says for the small country school out that way to not count on electricity until at least the first of next week.
