just wondering what you guys favorite music is, i am into all types execpt rap and hip-hop, and hardcore rock, my favorite is some good ol' waylon jennings, or john fogarty, and when i am working i love me some Cross Canadian Ragweed, what do you guy have playing in your shop

Has to be pretty hard rock to get my attention. No twangy country music for me. I do listen to all of them but I prefer something being played with guitars plugged in to stacks of Marshalls, wtih lots of drums and bass to go along with it. Love the live shows, kiss, ted nugent, 38 special, cheap trick, queensryche, cinerella, poison, motley crue, anthrax, metallica, megadeth, iron maiden,ozzie, judas priest,wasp, ratt. Was a product of the 80's so we went to all of them and they were great. Still love the rock, new stuff is great, just went and saw Avenged Sevenfold a couple of weeks ago and Buckcherry right after that. Lot of good ones now, heard a good one from Saliva tonight on the radio, Shinedown, Hoobastank , Chevelle, Atreyu, those types of bands are all good too. If I get sick of it for a while I turn it off and switch to talk radio or something but if you really need to rock you have to hear the guitars up to 11!

Like Maine Fordson it depends on my mood. I like 70"s rock, old country, outlaw country, some new country, Pink Floyd, Alan Parsons, jazz and blues. I like story telling music.

For raising h#ll I like Hank Jr, Southern Rock, Rainbow, DIO, Rush, AC/DC etc. For quiet listening I truly like BLUE GRASS. BLUEE GRASS from Bill Monroe and up i.e. Ricky Skaggs. After watching O" Brother Where Art Thou I was really impressed with Allison Krause - good sound track if you buy a copy.

Got 2 guitars that I piddle with when time permits (rarely); toying with idea of getting a banjo.

in the shop and truck its mostly frank zappa. i just love a good live version of frank jammin away on his guitar. my second favorite is willie nelson. also waylon, cash, hank, and all the old country ones, and classic rock. ill pretty much listen to anything but rap, and im not too much into the new rock & roll country.

for out in the shed/shop listening i like classic country got local station plays it all the time. for private listening i like 70 s early 80s rock some of the new country andsome gospel that has country-like music to it

I'm curious- what is Cross Canadian Ragweed? I like most country music that tells a tale. Some of my alltime favorites are Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Ian Tyson, Willie Nelson, Merle Hagard and when I really get deep into it I like to listen to some Wilf Carter, but my wife prefers I listen to Wilf alone. She likes the others.

10 bucks says I'm the biggest country music fan on this forum! : )Yeah I like country the most, everything from Ernest Tubb and Hank Williams to Johnny Cash to Garth Brooks to the brand new songs on the radio. Anyone want to play me on Name That Tune? I get into bluegrass quite a bit too nowadays...soothes the soul.

I also like Ernest Tubb, Hank Sr., Patsy Cline, just about any of the old country classics. Some of the "new" country is okay, but I think a lot of it belongs on a different radio station. The music is not bad, but just not country enough for me. I also like the Beach Boys, Beatles, most of the 50's and 60's rock and roll.

When I was younger is was Led Zepplin and Lynard Skynard all the way. I now listen to mostly country or Christian rock. My favorite is Third Day. Rock on!

Mostly classic rock, bluegrass, classic R&B and soul(Four tops, Temps),old country, new country, some new rock, and pretty much everything else except profane or devil worship music..... But on saturday afternoons, its Carolina Beach music!!

By the way, do you midwestern guys really get into into polka like they show on RFD?? Nothin wrong with it, just wondering.

Polka is really in the parts of the Midwest (northern) where the immigrants came from central and eastern Europe. In the eastern parts of the Midwest the immigrants were from western Europe and many of the settlers came out of New England and the Tidewater states and were of British origin. Traditional and bluegrass music traces to Elizabethan England.

Bluegrass has become my favorite, try to hear it live on the weekends. I like almost all except for shop workers dislikes.

More into the "Old" Country and old time rock n roll from the fifties n sixties. I didnt like it before but after my son got into the old hard core Mississippi Delta Blues I like it now.

Oftentimes what I listen to depends on the mood I'm in. Sometimes I try to improve my mood with something upbeat, and sometimes I choose to embrace the darkness (think pipe-organ music on a cold gray morning).

I like almost all of the stuff that Alison Krauss and Union Station have done. Talented musicians all. Deep-rooted in bluegrass but contemporary enough that folks who aren't fans of country or bluegrass will stop, actually listen to the lyrics because you can understand them, and ask who they are.

Patsy Cline is one of the greatest female vocalists ever, and the duets that she did with Jim Reeves are truly good listening.

Willie Nelson has done lots of great stuff, just not much lately.

Nancy Griffith, if you've ever heard of her, is a talented songwriter but has not had much commercial success. (Kathy Mattea and Bette Midler did do well with a couple of songs she wrote, "Love at the Five & Dime" and "From a Distance," respectively.)

Now that you can pick and choose music for an MP3 player, it's a lot easier to have stuff that's good to listen to; we're no longer at the mercy of radio stations that keep increasing the number of commercials and decreasing the amount of music played.

Sinatra, anyone?

I like all different kinds of music.I have XM radio in my vehicles and listen to Blues & Bluegrass but spend most of my time on the Sinatra channel.
