LUAPP had the correct answer, It is the front and the rear end from a 1915 Armstrong well drilling rig, It had a 12 HP Associated Hopper cooled flywheel engine which I located at another location. I sold it at the Portland Swap Meet about 5 years ago , It is now owned by DE in Ohio, Supposidly, He is going to build a tractor using the Armstong chassis and a Townsend two cylinder engine. Gonna call it a Armsend or a Townstrong tractor, I liked the reply sugest it might be a early dragster with the extra long wheelbase. Cheers.

Holy Cow! An Essex? The legend behind such a machine is almost too good to be true!

Let's go Mountaineers,

Aaron

He give us all the clues we need. He said it's not a tractor, it's self propelled, Frame rails, about 18ft. long. It's an early dragster.

Dont know, but with that much caster in the front axle it ought to be good for at least 200mph at Bonneville.

I will give you guys two hints, It is not a tractor, although it was self propelled. The other hint is it had wooden frame rails about 6" X 16" and 18 feet long. I will tell you what it was tomorrow.

Wheels and axles from an early tractor. Gas, oil, or steam, I can't tell.

Ha! I haven't heard much good about them. A local guy bought a brand new Deere with IVT for use in vegetable fields last spring. It was at Deere more than it was in the field all summer and fall.

I don't know if you're joking but why don't you start on the Deere website for some info and then look at the Nebraska test data on IVT equipped Deere tractors.
